Default Maxed out oil pressure guage

Question on this. I was driving on the freeway and yes it is hot outside and I rarely ever use my AC but I did today, and I usually don't monitor my oil pressure meter at all. But on the freeway it was maxed out at all the way past the 120.

I pulled over on the side and checked my oil, appears to be fine. I know I have an oil leak but it's nothing major it's pretty minor. But I drove home the rest of the way very slow at low RPMs.

Wondering if getting that maxed out guage is a bad thing??? I have searched the threads and found a few things, most people say low pressure is bad and high is alright. Any feelings on this? Could this be because of the extreme heat outside and using my AC?

It might be your oil pressure sending unit. Mine went bad and did the same thing. I belive its located on the oil filter adapter Or around there. Make sure its connected as well.

when i stopped and idled it went to 120 and stayed there but when driving it immediately went up to maxing it out, so it's actually moving it should be connected. My car temp is fine tho.

any pic of what this thing may look like so I can try to check connection?

The oil pressure sending unit is connected to the cylinder metal part between your oil filter and your engine. There is connector plug and wires coming out of it so you can miss it.

back when I used to look at the meter it was usually around the middle (60) and would idle much lower than that. now it is idling at 120 and when driving at any rate is is maxed out
