So im driving home on the 105W, and as im comming up to the 710 interchange, caltrans has the right 3 lanes shut down, and of course the cones are out only leaving the left 2 lanes open, so, as im driving through there is a car to the left of me, and i see in the middle of the lane a cone just sitting there, well i have no time to try and avoid it, and hit it on the right side of my bumper, and SMASH!!!!!!!.

I pull over on the side of the freeway, and see that the complete right side of my bumper is torn away, and that my intercooler has damage to it as well. So i call CHP, and because there understaffed right now, they cant send a unit out, so they tell me i have TO DRIVE MY CAR IN THE MONRING TO A STATION TO FILE A REPORT, which means i have to be seen on the freeway w/ my F***** up bumper, and hope that it does not cause more damage.


P.S. I will take pics of the bumper in the monring, and post up!

I am wondering tho if anyone knows if the State will encure the cost of a new front bumper, and paint?

There were road work on my way back from 5N today, they closed 4 lanes.
I didn't realize cars in the front are all stopped, so I had to slam on my brakes, and almost hit some cones too. Thats why I read this thread, and found out its you.

 

yea, it suxs big time, i liked this bumper 2!!!haha......well all i know is that someone better pay 4 a new bumper, or sheits going down!!!!

I don't want to take your thread off topic but you have had nothing but issues ever since those dipsh1ts at VRT got the car. Have you contacted Sam and see what he thinks. Do you have any boost leaks at all or anything like that and what is your fuel pressure?

 

I hope caltrans will take care of that as that cone could have caused a traffic collision from someone trying to swerve to miss it. When you hit the cone did you find and personal in the area or take pictures at all.

 

^^ when i hit it, i was so shocked at what happened i didnt pull over for about 2min, so, no i did not find a cal trans worker, but i called CHP right away, and like i said, they couldnt send a unit bc they were understaffed!

 

I don't think its the best idea to take a highly modified car such as yours to the CHP so they can inspect your broken bumper...

Yea the dumb sheits at CHP didnt want anything 2 do with me, i walked in and go "I need to file a report for an incident that happened last night that includes CalTrans" the officer goes "You cant, heres the number to call" and thats it, what a piece of crap!!!! but i didn contact CalTrans and they directed me to the claims department, (good to know they had a claims department, which means this isnt the 1st time sheit like this has happened) and they are sending me out some forums to fill out, and looks like they will take care of this!

I didnt file a claim against cal trans because cal trans cones has their company name written on their cones so I just went through insurance

I hit an orange cone that fell off the back of a work truck ...

My wounds: front bumper, fender, rim, side skirt..everything buffed out but the front bumper..










In the end the company cut me a check for $1500.00
