NASA had another fatality at Willowsprings and the track is REALLY skiddish about that happening with a passanger. The driver who was killed was in a mini cooper that rolled quite a few times. The driver was not in his restraints when he came to a rest.

For now, it looks like instructors only in the right seat.

Here is Ryan's/NASA's posting:

Not true, ALL passengers are banned from ride alongs at Willow Springs, unless it is with an official instructor with the event organization.

Pretty much all instructors are allowed passengers or to be a passenger, but like I said depends whos holding the event and if they consider you an instructor I think they still allow it on certain private events, but it looks like no more passengers at public events.
Found this video on youtube i think its of the crash

Nope wrong video, that's a wheel to wheel race. The event where the Mini Cooper driver was killed a few months back was a NASA HPDE, and he was driving a NEW Mini... Not a vintage one shown in the video. Besides that's showing a crash on turn 1-2 from Castrol Corner going into Rabbit's Ear. The fatal accident happened on turn 9.

Speed Ventures allow passengers depending on the track and advance permission is needed. I believe Streets of Willow (the track) does not allow passengers for certain events:

http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/...ion/rental.asp

However, I brought a passenger with me on Streets of Willow a few months back on a Speed Ventures event. I wasn't stopped, the workers checked my passenger for a band and just told us "No hand-held photos or videos are to be used."

I haven't been back to Streets since March, so I'm not sure if they tighten up the rules again.
