Default I Need Everyone's Input ASAP

Have you guys heard of the Nissans that have hail damage? Well I found a Z thats for sale. Its a DB enthusiast, I have a CS Base. *If* I traded my car, and got the damaged Z, I could turn it into a semi show car which would be my daily driver just like my CS is now. I would need to find a body shop that could get the dents out and repaint the whole car. Since it's being repainted, might as well add a body kit and some wheels. According to my calculations, I should be able to break even right? Pros: Better model Z, Sweet paint job, body kit, wheels Con: No body or paint warranty (who needs it with the crappy *** paint), spend some time without a car while its being fixed or its not a good idea to even do. Any comments? Please, I really need some input.

P.S. Does anyone know of a body shop that could do the above for a reasonable price in Los Angeles? (Dents, Repaint, Body Kit)

if you have the extra money i say why not? and if you can last not driving a car for a couple of weeks while the car is being worked on then thats well and good.

oh regarding paint and body work... i can hook you up with the same guy that painted my kit and did the door. if you need anyone to vouch for his work just look at my car.

good luck on your plan.

I would like to do the lambo doors too maybe. It all depends on how much he would charge me for parts and labor, maybe he could hook me up if he did the whole thing?

if you are going to get a daytona blue and repaint consider which colors you are going to paint the car. If it was black or white it would not be a problem matching colors with your engine bay.

what kinda of damage is made to the car. other than the answer of hail. Is it just pock marks from the hail or did the windows get shattered?

Well I havent seen the car personally. I posted to get some input, to even consider to go look at the car, since its 30 minutes from my house. I doubt any windows are broken, I think its just the dents on the body. As far as color, I don't know. The DB is too bright for my taste. Colors I could think of are red, black, dark blue, or silver. I'm still unsure.

If you go with a dark blue and the lambo doors you will have a show stopper

Will I be losing money? I bought a fully loaded base with 500 off msrp. Gave 4k down, and have paid for about 6 months worth of payments ($466.66). Since the "hail damage" car is at 29000, and they discount about 8-10k, would I be in a good situation. I get confused and cant figure it out.

Here are some things I would worry about.

1. How many miles does the car have on it? Remember even though it might have less miles than yours, you will never know how the car was treated.

2. Get an estimate on the damage. Hail damage can be pretty massive covering the whole car. Also since the hood is aluminum it might have to be replaced rather than repaired. There are allot of curves on the Z, I imagine the body work would be very labor intensive.

3. If window was broken, check for water damage inside the car. Nothing worse than a car with a crappy electrical system.

Why don't you just turn you CS car into a show car?

No expert here, just giving you my opinion.

The car is brand new. Im figuring since I trade my car which I bought for 28 with 4 down plus 3k in payments versus a car selling at about 20k should be like if I just swapped cars and not lose any money right?

I don't know. If it was me, I would just keep my Z and mod. that. Good luck on whatever you choose...
