Andy, take it for a test drive and tell us how it is. Or have you done it already?

I'm not really feeling the looks, especially the front end... but I'm sure it will grow on me.

Initial Driving Impression:

The 370Z definitely seems like it shed some weight compared to the 350Z. The VQ37HR is definitely a great engine; makes strong and smooth linear power all the way up to redline. In stock form, the car seems to handle very well. Just a slight tug of the steering wheel gets you aligned with where you want to go and seems to react a bit quicker than the 350Z. Gearbox is a HUGE improvement from the 350Z; no notchiness, smooth and from what feels like to be shorter throws. The interior doesn't have that "cheap" NISSAN feel to it anymore. Interior noise has been significantly reduced and the interior design has definitely been stepped up to a big improvement. The cabin space does seem a bit more cramped but the lay out of the compartments in the rear seems to be more functional and easier for accessibility. The feature I was impressed with the most is the rev matching transmission. It reacts very fast and seems to be highly responsive so there is no lag in between shifting gears. It may take out the "race-car" feel of tracking the car but I really think it should help shave seconds off lap times on the track. Brakes have awesome modulation (4 Piston / 2 Piston Touring Model). The pedal feels MUCH stiffer than the 350Z factory BREMBO setup and bites very quickly. My only gripe about the car so far is the clutch. The clutch pedal is very soft and will need some getting used to as far as the engagement point. All in all, not too shabby!

Andy, I know the VQ37HR is similar in layout and design to the VQ35HR... Can you feel the increased hp while driving?

Damn... I just want to test drive this thing...

Andy, the parts department open on Friday? Need a new oil filter again... hook me up? This time I won't need to buy the racegirl air freshener for Boba... hahahaha.

Honestly, I can't tell the difference in power from the VQ35HR and the VQ37HR. Obviously, with the extra 200cc displacement; it will put out more power but the feel is pretty minimal in my opinion, especially on a NA car that weighs over 3K pounds. I'm sure once you actually put a 08 Z33 and a 09 Z34 side by side, the Z34 will end up pulling a bit harder than the Z33.

We're open Friday, normal operating hours. Filters are like $5 bucks, lol.

Thanks Andy, I know it's 5 bucks... haha just wanted to make sure you fellas are open and don't have like a shortened holiday hours or something.

Thanks for the insight on the 370z... hope they will make a FI kit for that car and hope it's the same fitment on the VQ35HR engine.

So the rev match is an entire transmission. I wonder if we can transfer that technology over to the 350Z. It is the main reason why I am interested in the 370Z. I might stop by this Friday Andy. My sister has been keeping an eye out on the 370Z for a while now. Hopefully we can test drive one

Totally digging that interior. I hope that got rid of all that funky plastic rubber that was in the 350, damn stuff just got scratched up way too easy. Good to hear about the brakes, hopefully we'll see some good deals on these when 370z owners upgrade to BBKs. Hell even those rims look real nice for oem

For any test drives, make sure you speak with someone in the car sales department.

yea, we just got our first two today too. A red one and a yellow one. The red one is in our showroom floor and the yellow one I think ended up being displayed at God only knows. Apparently there's a "Fair Market Value" pricing that's added....bleh, hate that. Either way, I think we got the throw away colors hahaha.
