Needles to say i was really impressed with his knowledge about Nissan. He would be the guy to buy the car from...
Youll find some gearheads for sure....hell I am pointing out ecu/tcu reflashes for C63 customers who dont even know they are available...90hp gain

But as I said...the overwhelming majority of car "sales" people dont know much of anything about cars --- they arent what I would call car people....they just happen to be sales people who are given cars to sell

I work with a former Nissan General Store Manager and he knows a little about the GTR...mostly because of the problems...but he is also a "car guy" who has a Z, a harley and a few other things with wheels and mods ....I also work with guys who dont know what an LSD is and sell cars with sticker prices above 500K....sad

But it is what it is....the car market has been on a downward spiral for years and the quality of sales folks has also gone lower with each passing year...the good ones take their skill set and move on to bigger and better things...the real estate crash and credit bubble has quite a few guys taking what they can get but I rarely get my hopes up when I visit a dealership...

I usaully just research what I want and by the time I even talk to a dealership I already have a number to offer...simple, quick and painless

With the 370 I wanted to really get a good look in person before I made any decisions and I have yet to come across a manual base + sport package car....back in Jan they were all touring models and many of them were auto...I didnt even want to drive that combo so I have just waited...but the local Nissan store has closed up shop and the other is an autonation store that looks like a ghost town (anyone home?) --- I talk to the same guy when I go because he is a decent guy but I dont ask him any "tough" questions...I know better

I have to take a look at the pricing to see if taking the hit on my 06 is worth it...there isnt a ton of room in the Z so Im not keen on rolling a ton of negative equity over...Considering there is maybe 2XXX dollars from MSRP to invoice you might be able to squeeze another 2-3K below that if they get desperate and take a loss to move the unit...4-6K off from MSRP is okay but hopefully Nissan gives them some factory cash and they offer an even larger discount ....Mercedes is offering 7K factory cash on the CLKs and the dealerships are tacking on as much as 5.5K more on top for a total of 12.5K off MSRP....crazy discount...but the new E Coupes will be here in June so they have to move them...dont think Nissan is in a hurry to move the 370s that quickly just yet....but I havent really looked into lately
