Default Will getting my car tune can slightly help me with pass smog?

https://my350z.com/forum/southern-ca...ml#post7287160

^ this is a spin off my smog check thread.

I went to get and it failed. It said the NOX was high. I search my yard for my cats and frak it is missing. I have a feeling the guys that cut my grass must have took them but I can't go tell them that now.

My mods are
-JWT Pop Charger
- 1/2 plenum spacer
- Nismo headers,
- Labree High Flow Cats
- Dual HKS exhaust

Any idea what can I do? Does getting my stuff tune help? or if someone has a OEM cat they can lend me 03-05. Help would be greatly appreciated.

~Robert

It *might* be possible, but it would probably just be cheaper to find someone to pass it for you.

Hey Robert, i dont mind loaning you my stock cats but you would need to swap them off my car. I know a pretty cool guy that does smog off artesia /166th. Dont think he could hook it up if u dont pass but he usually gives me a cheaper price for smog. I have to go in this weekend to get my legend coupe smogged. let me know if u still need the cats.

Thanks for the offer. So just to confirm they are still on your car? and if you don't mind asking can you ask roughly how much he would charge?

Also if someone has oem cats that they can lend me that would be greatly appreciated.

^^^ You shouldn't disclose that on the thread. Why don't you PM OP directly? Now you have just set yourself up with a trail if something were to go wrong................ To OP, I would suggest to swap out for OEM cats and get smogged legally. You don't want to take a chance......

Is failing smog simply an element of having good cats?

What if you have CARB legal FI like Vortech, but you made...umm...some "modifications" like bigger injectors, pulleys, etc...would the new tune affect passing smog check?

Yeah they're still on the car. I forget how much he charges me, but i think like 40-50 bucks?..gotta check receipts. I just know he charges me the same price as when i first started going to him which was about 6-7 years ago. I just bring in the previous receipt and he gives me the old price. Im probably gonna go there tomorrow to get my acura smogged. I pm'd you my contact info since i might not be back on the forum over the weekend, let me know if u need anything.
