Yes.

Anything you put on Craigslist will get you about 10 similar emails.

And pretty soon you will be getting an e-mail telling you he will be sending you a check for about 10 times the amount of the parts he wants to buy. Then he will want you to send him a check for the difference. Guess what, the check you get from him will bounce and you will be out the difference if you send him his "change".

Here is an e-mail I received with a similar offer. It even sounds like the same person authoring the correspondence:

Quote:

Hello,
Thanks so much the info and i will like to let you know that the deal
is still on and the payment would be sent via UPS Courier
Service and the item will be picked up as soon as you receive the
payment, and get payment cashed. Then I will instruct the shipper to get
in contact with you for the pick up schedule time and date.I will like
to tell you that i would be sending a payment worth of $3250 to cover
the shipment of the items bought and other itesm that am
buying,Because,i might not be on hand when the payment arrives,as am
going for my business trips,So as soon as you receive the check have
it cashed and remove your money for the item and send the remaining
funds to the shipper via Western Union or Gram money transfer. My
shipper is also picking some of other items at the same city of
yours, that is why you need to transfer the remaining amount of $$$
to the shipper when you have receive the payment.you will have to deduct
$100 for your running around that I have caused you during the transaction
period. Please let me know if i can trust you on this so we can move forward
from here.and email you the tracking number of the payment soonest and
also i will like you to remove the advert on CL and also keep other buyer off,
Do get back to me asap.Ok.
End of Quote.

I can't imagine too many people falling for this crap.

Yes, it's a scam. I noticed that if a "potential buyer" does not mention the product you are selling in their inquiry, 90% of the time it's a scam.

WTF is this ?? i have another listing for some set of porsche stockers im selling

Thanks for your response. Consider it gone as i have decided to buy it. I would arrange for payment immediately and my shipper will come for the pick up after payment.

To hasten up this process. The payment i'm going to issue will exceed your price, you are to deduct yours and have the differences wired to the shipping company through WESTERN UNION or MONEYGRAM Money Transfer. Pleases delete your post from craigslist and reply with your...

Full Name
Phone number
Mailing address
Email address
Final Price

Do you agree to wire the differences to my shipper through Western Union after deducting yours???
