So this happened to my Z...
Working the graveyard shift and operating a Z after work on zero sleep do not mix well. I usually take this merge lane right turn at about 50 without incident. The one time I take it sleep deprived, and at the same speed as usual, I give it too much throttle on corner exit and spin it. I caused 4500 dollars in damage to my poor Z This happened on 10-4 in the morning and the body shop wont have my car ready until 10-25. This blows! Fortunately nobody was injured at all. I will save the spirited driving for when I'm wide awake from now on, haha.
As a side note, I always make sure I have the green light and check for bikers and pedestrians (there is a clean line of sight all the way up through the turn so I can see if anyone or anything is there).
Here are some sidewalk photoshoot-esque shots, lol:
You can see the turn and the skidmarks I left in the distance. The left side took all of the damage. Poor RPF1's
Parked hard on the sidewalk!
And here are some shots of the underside where most of the cost was incurred on the estimate:
Swaybar and crossmember are being replaced but thankfully I didnt hit the oil pan or motor!
Rear shot of the damage.
My deductible is 500 dollars so thank goodness for insurance! There was also a white Z at the shop who had a similar incident and I was told he paid out of pocket. That Z looked worse then mine so I can only imagine what that cost!
Well needless to say, lesson learned.
