Thumbs down Ortega Accident-Zman23 almost a Gonner

Well guys, I'm a lucky SOB!! We were on our run today, I was leading through the twisties when the back end kicked out on me to the left. I corrected it but it kicked back to the right where I couldn't save it. I tried hitting the brakes but with just a little pavement in the other oncoming lane, I hit grave and it was all over with. I slid about 20' into the corner guardrail. Luckily that guardraill saved my life!! If I didn't hit it, I would've gone over a 300' drop into some very big bolders and trees and I probably would've rolled all the way done!
Luckily God has other plans for me by saving me at that guardrail. Once the car stopped, I couldn't believe I was sittingwith my front facing the canyon below! Turned the car off and sat an thanked God I'm still here, i don't think I would be writting this to u all if I didn't hit the guardrail! That grave I hit was like I was on ice, no traction at all.
Only thing I can think of is maybe something broke in the rear, I don't know? I will find out the damage tomorrow from my insurance company and will go from there.
Now the pics once I got back the M2 Collision:

I do know the trailing arms are busted and my Hotchkis rear sway is bent. Rear wheel is totaled. Door, side skirt and rear quarter panel is damaged as well.

Nope not my time, I think I have 7 lives left due to a train accident when I was very young in grade school. So am counting my blessings!

HFM, Tom, and Daytona350z, I wanted to thank you guys for hanging in there with me and helping me out! Don't know what I would've done if I was by myself! Hfm, thanks a bunch for the tow help, I really appreciate it! This group of Z guys are the greatest in the whole Z group(meaning California Z's) we all stick together and all help each other out in a time of need and I would bend over backwards to do the same for anyones else! Thanks again!

Jon, Im glad to hear you are ok, that is the most important thing. Given all the runs weve gone on with and without guard rails, this scares the living crap out of me. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

Glad you're safe man. I realized latter on, that's the same road that the passenger in the M3 died after a crash. It's a deceptively fast road because it's easy to take a turn quicker than we safely can and probably as dangerous or more so than Angeles Crest.

I'm pleased that I could save you a few bucks with AAA Plus. It's definitely worth it to upgrade just for the 100 mile free towing benefit. Don't worry about the damage, that will get fixed. The fact that you're safe is so much more important.

Holy smokes, just read the Thread. Sorry about the car, that can eazily be fixed or replaced , but a great guy like you, only comes once in a lifetime.

Everytime we get into a car,any car ,we all take a chance. Hope to see you back again and I'll keep your slot open for the Mossy show. Here's hoping ever thing goes smooth for you and you can make it

Better not stop eating those "Lucky Charms "just yet.

If there's anything I can do to help .... you got it. Twisted

Zman23:

I am glad YOU are ok. Cars can be fixed or replaced. This is a classic example of why going to the track is the best place to push the limits of your car and your driving skills. I am happy another driver was not involved as well.

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO What is going on with our Z's. Damn Jon that really bites bro. These twisties are really starting to be a bad idea. I can't believe what happened to the car but MOST important you are ok Jon. I did not even know about this until I read the Mossy Show thread. We have lost too many of our cars here and enough is enough...TJ's, Amy Croft, X to the Z, Gq626, Zman33 why is this a common thing. I may be done with these twisties from now on.....

jon, we are just so glad you werent injured in any way. as many have said, and this is so true, cars can be replaced, but you cant.

i couldnt believe my eyes when i saw you on the side of the road there. i was in shock of what happened. it was so quick, and there was nothing you could have done that woulda saved the car from getting away from you. i am soo glad the guardrail was there to save you.
