Do you really run a 285/40/18? I'm not talking smack, just asking. I run a 275/40/18 now, but am switching to a 285/35/18. Just curious if you're really looking for a 35 or 40 series tire. A 285/40/18 seems to be harder to find in sticky track tires.
If youre from the dallas fort worth area check out craigslist there was a pair of goodyear eagle f1 for like 120 with 70% life left. I had a hard time finding 295/30/18 for my rpf1s

Yeah I run them with no problem at all. Just had to roll the fenders. That was it. The fit perfect on my 18x10.5 +15mm

I would part with them for $100 bucks even picked up. That's only $50 bucks a tire....and for Track....they would be awesome !
I know what wear bars are, but if they arent worn to them yet, then they are still good?
The R-S3 is a unique tire in that it seems to give great grip even when worn past the wear bars. I would say you'd get tons of life out of them. I know Fithamoto and he just doesn't feel as comfortable as the rest of us when tires get "low" on tread.
You should be fine with either his R-S3s or the F1s on craigslist that Sal posted.
On another note... is it a good idea to mismatch tires front to rear for a track setup? I've always heard it's best to keep them all matching in order to offfer equal grip levels.
