I know most people and models are pointing that Rita will turn north towards Houston, i've brought up a few different local models here in NE PA that have it tracking directly west without a northward turn and impacting the southermost tip of Texas and northern Mexico.

Of course prepare for the worst, but there is still hope.

Directly from weather.com :Hurricane Rita's rapid intensification cycle that began Tuesday afternoon continues. Top winds are up to 175 mph, now a category 5 hurricane. Rita's pressure has dramatically dropped to 897 millibars! Even as a large and extremely intense category 5 hurricane, further strengthening is possible as the atmosphere remains favorable for development over the next 24 hours.

Insane! You guys need to get to safety!! good luck!

Traffic is stopped on almost every major freeway heading out of town. It took my sister 3 1/2 hours to go 35 miles from her house to mine! Too many people!

My Z is safe at home in the garage...and may stay there awhile since there is no gas available around here!!!

Best of luck to everybody in Houston, Beaumont, Port Arthur, and the rest of southeast Texas.
