More info would be helpful in providing some decent suggestions.

- where are you working?
- do you care to drive more than 30 miles?
- what kind of price range are you in?

The more info the better chance we can give you a decent answer, houston has over 80 mile residential radius if not larger.

My advise, move to one of the surrounding communities...The Woodlands, Sugarland, Kingwood...

Up and down I-45 at peak traffic times will make you suicidal, the three areas to stay away from during peak times are I-45 North/South and I-10 West into Katy.

You could check around the east side of town outside the beltway, Baytown isn't too bad and I'm in la porte the drive is a bit further, 38 miles but very easy once you hit 225.
