Default AfterMarket Cats... Legal in Texas?

I know that most will pass sniff test, for the places that are doing the voluntary sniff test inspectors in Tx. But do they need to have a carb sticker? Just wanting more info before I buy. I'm thinking of going with crawford high flow cats.

high flow cats are legal.....test pipes will pass emissions on most cars but are illegal. Most places don't even look under the car for them.

Vehicle emissions testing is limited to a few locations in Texas. Here is the link to the Texas vehicle emissions testing program, to include where they are doing the testing:

http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/implemen.../overview.html

If your HFC passes the emissions testing, it would be legal.

For a general safety inspection most places check for the basics- Lights, turn signals, horn, etc (Item like such) are working properly.

If you pull your ride into the shop and it's obvious you have an exhaust leak they can inspect further and not pass your ride. If you are in a location where they don't do the sniffer test then I wouldn't worry about it. You should have no probs passing.

lucky bastard....you use to be able to travel to another county to get inspection done....you could avoid a sniffer test this way. Not anymore...they make you go in your county. Never had a problem passing emissions anyway.

like mentioned above, most cities test for emissions....smaller towns don't.

We have alot more open land than other states, so it only make sense to test highly populated areas.

I am in one of the counties that does inspect exhaust systems. does anyone know exactly what they are looking for during this test? Is it both a sniff and visual inspection for CARB numbers? The link above does not state exactly
