Smile Bose Stereo System

Does anyone know of any car audio specialists in the Dallas area who repair Bose car stereos? I'm having an issue with my Bose 6 disc stereo. Whenever I play a cd, the sound fades in and out of one of my speakers as if I had an electrical shortage. However, when I play the radio I don't have that problem. I took it to the dealership to have it looked at, but they were going to charge me $1700 being that my warranty has expired. If anyone has any resources I would appreciate it.

I am not 100% sure but it MAY be cheaper and a better idea to just get an aftermarket stereo put in...Speakers, the whole bit. It would probably be cheaper or just as expensive, and it will SOUND better.

get an ipod and a tape adapter...worked for me. haha

You're testing my memory, but i think it has something to do with the stupid microphone that is under the steering wheel that detects road noise for the audio system. If i get bored ill try and find some threads on it, but do a search for "Bose" and sift through some old threads. You arent the first one with this issue. Maybe try google too.

fixing it is not worth the effort...

if mine breaks i will just replace it...

my amp is running less than expected due to the BOSE...
be better off spending a few buck and getting a Kenwood or something

I have that same exact problem with mine! It's annoying as hell when you have a lady in the car. So, with warranty i can get that fixed without paying anything or is there a small fee?

I am having the same issue, I bought an extended warranty so they are taking care of it, if this wasn't the case I would've def put in an aftermarket head unit...

Is it just one speaker? I noticed the same thing, but I thought it was related to the speed of the car. My Bose seems to get louder when I go faster (and have more outside/road noise) and automatically quiets down somewhat when I come to a stop. However, this doesn't seem to happen with the radio -- only the CD player.

I always thought this was just a feature...

I have the same problem. Sometimes my driver side speaker will go in and out. I have heard that it is an electrical problem in the stereo. I have an extended warranty, so I am just going to hope I can get it fixed with that. It is a pain to try to get them to reproduce the problem.

if you really want to fix the bose. go to the forums / marketplace and look for a used bose system for $100 bucks..$50 to install it or DIY. And $25 paypal to me for the grand idea...save yourself over 1k.
