Well thats gotta be the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on! Tearing up 128 miles of open Texas Highway...
Pics and video in and out of car will be up in a few days..If you have never done it, you owe it to yourself to go try it once! That was a blast..
Unfortunately my navigator wasn't able to make it so I went solo.
My class was the 110mph class..fastest you can go with out harnesses and a cage...minimum speed allowed is 80 and max of 124.
I was ahead by 1:19 at the end of the first leg and early by 1:14 at the end...
What that means is I drove a total of 128 miles and was off 1:14 from a perfect score...
I placed...drum roll please...29 out of 30 cars in the 110mph class...LMAO!
to give you an idea how good these guys are..the winner of my class was
.008 from a perfect score! so there were 28 other cars that finished in less than 1:14 from a perfect score of 64:20...
Very cool cars there...carrera gt, gallardo, ford gt 4 different detomasas the "nascar" unlimiteds 65 vettes, many mustangs.etc etc etc
I was the ONLY 350Z thanks to you no shows!!!lol
Anyway..again pics and video as soon as I can edit it all...

Yes A judge has to okay it and DOT has to issue a permit to close the road..sherriff's dept. and police from both cities are involved..a sweep of the road is performed right after they close the road @6am to scrape up road kill...as if driving and watching the road and gauges isnt taxing enough, you have to watch out for buzzards pecking the blood of the road kill, javalinas, deer and coyotes just to name a few..but once again..its all about time..not being the fastest..its a helluva lot harder than you would think...I was amazed I was a minute fourteen seconds off..lol
I should mention the overheating bit me in the *** again...temps stayed at 195-205@120mph the whole way....End of race and 2 mile cruise to the courthouse to stage for the next leg and temps drop to 180..perfect right? I go eat and 30 minutes later pull out to go fuel up...get fuel and damned if when I pull back in the temp spikes and it starts puking coolant out of the overflow...dammit!
I let it cool for 10 minutes then everyone in order starts pulling out to restage..I drive in position for about a mile and have to pull off into a gas station where believe it or not they actually have a water hose! Spent the next 35 minutes getting it completely cooled down and I'm thinking I'm out now, they're going to DQ me....I figured what the hell..all they can do is tell me to get out of line...there's 152 cars in two lines btw..I puill up and the guys in the vettes had saved my spot! YEAH! so i end up with a completely cooled down car and recrank to move up only 3 more times before my time to go...got the green and took off to see immediately the temp going up!!! it kept going and finally could see the that when the thermo opened it dropped and stayed once again between 195-205 for the next 59 miles.
PUll into the park at the finish line and wth...smoke under the hood! ends up being I burned through one of the AC condensor lines....hate to see what thats going to cost!
Ah well..thats the worse thing that happened..just glad I was able to run both legs! Awesome time!!!
Have to tally all the receipts now...probably cost close to $1500.00 to do this...entry fees, rookie school, hotel etc...
Worth EVERY penny and every hour put into getting everything ready to go!
