Thanks, Chris! Now I know how you and Scott feel when you guys take 1st 350Z at each of the events.
I love my GoPro and my only regret is not getting it sooner. I usually bring it with me whenever I do something active -- so useful. I've been trying to sell Eric on getting one, too, but I think he's got his priorities straight (mods > camera).
I have the Hero2, which is the newer version, but at ½ the price, the original Hero is a very good choice and either will come with the suction mount (as long as you opt for the Motorsports version). There will be some video and audio quality difference, but not too significant, imho.
There's also something called Swann Freestyle, which is pretty much a copy of the original GoPro Hero (pretty much the same specs), but they're cheaper and come with many more accessories. These have been on sale for dirt cheap a couple of times recently.

^ That, and the Contour, but neither of those have the mounting versatility that GoPro/Swann has. They seem to have good quality and are cheaper, though.
Feels like a monday for me since I was on vacation and back to work today. Oh well 4 days of work and then 2 days off will be nice. What the heck are you on to figure it is friday or did you just get paid today and figure it was payday friday.

I don't have any first hand - but its the camera i was going to buy for xmas - i don't have my priorities straight - no mods for me - just tires on income tax return - and track days for days -
As far as the mic it has a plug in - I have in the past used a similar setup (race cam) and put the mic in the glove compartment or under the drivers seat -
you have to buy a fuzzy coochie rug for the go-pro - to disrupt the sound - which does work really good - looks funny too which is a bonus -

You mean like mine? And, we can add an external mic.
Since we were talking about cameras recently, here's a camera mount that I made:

I tested the mount out this past weekend (in-car vid posted before) and it worked better than I expected.
That thread has similar headrest mounts you can get ideas from. If you're thinking about a new camera but already have a camera, you can do this in the interim. I know Chris has something similar.
