I don't do it often, but every time I've gone skeet shooting I did well so we will see. I'm mostly going to bring my dog and see how he reacts since he's not trained for hunting. My neighbor trained his dog himself but she's older and I think it's her last season so I wanted to make sure to go while I could.

It looks like some new laws will go into effect 9/1/13. I think most of us don't run a front plate currently but that might change, depending on how strict they enforce the law. Fines for not having a front plate can be up to $200.

It wasn't a law change, but rather a mistake in writing of the law. From what I remember it's always been illegal, but I believe what happened was there was no punishment listed. Probably would have ended up in court to sort it out, so it wouldn't be as simple as "having no front plate is legal"

^ I think you're referring to this:

Since 1934, Texas law has required automobiles to have a valid front license plate. This offense was a class "C" misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $200. However, a last minute change in the statute at the end of the most recent legislative session resulted in the punishment section of the statute being inadvertently stricken.
...without a clearly defined punishment range, it is impossible to know what level of offense is alleged to have been committed...
...because the legislature is now silent on the issue of punishment, we simply have no way of knowing where jurisdiction lies for this "offense." Hence, a "no front license plate" case filed in ANY court would, at this juncture, be ripe for urging that the court lacks jurisdiction, inasmuch as jurisdiction has not been properly conferred on ANY court.

Yep, isn't that what Q is talking about? I remember that being a kind of big deal.

Yeah, I think both of you were talking about the same thing. I'm not sure but I guess it was big enough of a deal to where most of us know about it. Either way, everything is defined now so it's up to the LEOs on how strictly it will be enforced.

So technically If I wanted to fight mine I could get out of it since I got ticket in August???? Anyway my license plate holder that goes in tow hook should be here Tues or Wed... figure anyone that gets ticket can borrow it...only cost ya a beer.
Travis yours should be a simple fix it ticket I believe. Just show them proof you has it on and its a minor fee. Man I hope they don't get strict on it. Misdeamenor fine? Ugh. I might have to invest in the motorized front plate bracket if that's the case.

Lawyer cost > ticket cost if you try to fight it, I would think... But as Q said, it should just be a fix-it ticket, which was always fine-less for me as long as I showed proof.
