OKAY I GOT A QUESTION - I dont think its worth starting my own thread so here goes.......
what the heck is the difference in the 03-05 headlights??? are some HID and some not??
I know the 06 is the new design year right??
Reason i ask is because i plan on buying some 03-05 style headlights and then doing the oven trick and opening them up and installing the clear lense strip.
I dont care for the newer 06+ headlights......and i already have the clear strip, just haven't gotten around to installing it....
i have headlights that look like these on my 04 touring:

I just wanna replace the amber strip with my clear strip and ill be happy....

I probably do have OCD, I don't know. It's out of sight yes, that's not what I'm worried about. I hate the fact that it's not easy to pull out, and when it does come out the oil drips on the intake/all around the block unless you are really careful or good. I also can never get a great reading on the stick also. I did not mean relocate, I meant replacing it with another one that is better then the current one maybe I don't know.
03-05 has both halogen lights (non-hid) and reflector hid's. I'm going to upgrade to the 06+ headlights though since they are actually true projector hid's and are tons better then the 03-05 hid's which are crap. You should be able to replace the amber strip in non-hid or hid I doubt it makes a difference. I don't think they sell "hid and non-hid" clear strip.
Just saw the post, if they are the non-hid version, you can't just plug your hid headlights into them. I'm not sure if non-hid and hid headlights look any difference. I am thinking it doesn't.

03-05
-Base models have halogen lamps
-Base models have different back so you have to attach the ballasts with a little improvisation
-Enth, Perf, Tour, Track, Anniv all have HIDs which utilize both reflectors and the projector lens
-Above mentioned models have a place where the ballasts neatly fit (of course, they're included.. unless stated otherwise)
06+
-All models have HIDs
-All models use the same Bi-Xenons which shine through true projector lens

The original of that pic was posted up yesterday on a different forum. She's actually the cutest one.
oooh, let me know when you do this. I want it done on mine as well. I had halogens but bought an HID Kit and installed it. I dont like that amber strip as well, and I think it would look cleaner with DB color car.
Also I have to ask - why dont you just clean up the ones you have instead of buying some brand new ones? especially if you are going to take them apart... just wonderin..

I thought about that, but mine are really really bad......so i was thinking of just buying new ones and doing the open/ swap amber and clear strip/close, then just one day swap headlights so that i don't have any car down time..........
i figured i would then get my original hazy headlights and open/clean/close back up and then maybe sell them on the forum kinda thing.......
