Fitment isn't perfect but I like it

You are probably going to have to break out the sandpaper. I would start with 600 grit first to see if that will tackle the crap on the aluminum. If not you could go down to 400 grit. I'm assuming these are aftermarket wheels without clear coat? If not you are in for alot of work if you are doing it yourself starting with stripper to completely remove the clear. Increase grits as you prgress ending with 3M superfine using paint reducer as a lubricant. We use very expensive polish at work but as far as over the counter wheel polish you can find at Wal-mart or autoparts stores I recommend BlueMagic. It is cheap and very easy to polish with. Gloves are your friend! Lots of elbow grease.

 

Like the title says. I get to try the drop and then go back to stock to see if I like it. OR IF I SCRAPE This is with a 3/4 inch drop..

that's an awesome mod for very cheep....but is is safe by cutting down the bushing ?

 

its safe...car feels more "level" now. I know peops that have had this for yrs with NO issues. Definitely a cheap mod for sure for the added drop.. Im not scraping or rubbing and the look is more than appealing...

 

yea, The wheels do look better in person and that is a shitty angle from my iphone camera... and I will get more pics today when i get home from work.. i didnt drive it today. The car as it sits has 265 up front and 295s in the rear. the offset in the front is 30 on a 10.5 and the rear offset is a 5. They fit PERFECTLY with no rubbing in the front. I acctually could probably go a little more aggressive in the front if i wanted.

can you do something like the spring mount mod for the front? I havent ever heard of anyone doing it.

 

There is no sprint mount up front.

 

i knew that.. i figured there might be some way to lower the front down though.. JLS made it seem like he was going to try to lower both front and rear on stock suspension... lol i was just trying to figure out how one might go about that.

 

Most buy lowering springs........

Front oem is an actual strut spring combo.......so only way to lower front is to buy lowering springs for the front and install them..

springs only will retain your oem strut/shock assembly and only replace the spring itself.


or

coilovers of course...which replaces everything for a fully adjustable coilover.

Thx - I will be taking them out thursday to ship them to the original owner. I plan on doing mine but not as aggressive (even though I love the look now)

If there was a way - I would be doing those too for a 1/3 of the price of most shops..

Ya man mine doesn't fit perfectly either. It's really close, but the middle section doesn't cover everything that it should. Yours looks really good in the pic though. And you can't beat that price!

 

blue, i think its the chrome rivets throwing me off on your wheels. i'd to see a photoshop with the rivets black and formula blue rays lug nuts.

 

Damn bluz370......those fronts looked stretched on that front rim.

The rears look nice.....better watch those Lips...they are a magnet for curbs !

Nothing is worst than a black wheel will curb rash.

 

There is another way to get lower in the front. I know a handful of FX'ers do it, but only because we don't have coilovers that are easy to get. Basically, you move the strut mount in a way that moves it closer to the spring seat, and that lowers it more in the front. And more than lowering springs would ever get you, even cut. Probably not something you guys would ever do, requires custom fabrication. Much easier to just get coilovers that have better adjustability.

 

So, I can do the front springs like I wanted, and then lower the back with the bushings shaved. Im still under warranty, would that be a problem ? Are those rear bushings pretty inexpensive, so that I could retain my stock ones

I don't think you can get just the front springs. They usually come in a set of 4, for all corners. Plus, it'd be kind of dumb to have aftermarket springs in the front (cheap way of lowering) and have cut spring mounts in the rear (even cheaper way of lowering).

If you were to buy the spring mounts from a dealership, it'd be expensive. But with so many Zs around these days, I'm sure you'd find a used one for cheap.

The dealership cannot void your warranty for aftermarket parts unless they can prove to you that the aftermarket part was the source of whatever problem you went to the dealership about.
