Jason,

Dude you are so innovative....you should send that in to Nissan...they could use that info....Even if they have it....maybe they just need an easier way to go about it.

Sensor 2 is post-cat

BTW, O2 sensors are very sensitive and do go out for no reason from time to time. Most likely, all you need to do is replace the sensor, but be sure to handle it gently. You should also not power on the O2 sensor unless it's in your exhaust system with the car running, as it could get damaged.
Thank you so much for the help! i will do all of this tomorrow and see if that doesnt narrow it down a bit.

^^^ btw, I heard somewhere that the front o2 sensors are wideband and the rear ones are not. if thats not true, would that mean I can swap one of the rear sensors forward and then just build o2 simulators for the rear two?

Jason, I always liked your creative mods and this one is no different.

DFW Z33, are you serious? For one, if any of the O2 sensors are faulty, the ECU will detect it and show a CEL accordingly. Second, non-foulers (NOT O2 simulators.. they don't simulate O2, which is oxygen) purpose isn't to the incapacitate the O2 sensor, so I don't even know where you were going with that. Lastly, if in fact the fronts are wideband sensors and rears are not (called narrowband), then why would you want to swap them? Clearly, you already know they're different (wideband and "not").

Guess what happened to me on my drive from Dallas to Chicago yesterday!

tl;dr - just see pics

I had hit something with my front left tire/wheel on the road 2 weeks ago in TX , but thought nothing of it because there seemed to be no apparent damage upon visual inspection. I drove around with no hiccups, but I guess the long non-stop drive to Chicago took its toll on the damaged tire/wheel. After I was on the road for about 9 hrs (around 8 PM just after crossing the IL border), my car suddenly began shaking and I began losing control. Apparently, my tire tread decided to rip itself off from the rim and by the time I had stopped the car on the shoulder, the tire was rolling away from me into the grass somewhere.

Anyway, I had to jack up my car in the cold, in the dark, on the shoulder of a busy highway with a tiny flashlight. Cops passing by stopped as I was working on the spare and provided adequate light for me, so that helped. I'm so lucky that I had not decided on taking my drag racing slicks, leaving my spare at home. It sucked driving on the spare the rest of the way to Chicago (4.5 hours) in such a cold weather though, especially with it as a front tire, as I had to drive slower and more cautiously.

I swear I had so many bad things happen to me in Chicago or on my way there. F*ck this place.

Sorry about your car!!!

ok, sorry, my last post was confusing. heres what i meant to say.

I read on 350z tech that the 04.5+ g35 has wideband sensors on the front and narrowband sensors on the rear, according to the g35 service manual. I looked into the 350z service manual to confirm this for the Z however, and havent been able to find out either way. The reason I wanted to know this is because I will be removing my rear o2 sensors and nonfoulers (because I dont like how low my sensors stick out with the non-foulers), plugging the holes and using two o2 simulators that I will be building soon. I would then have two spare o2 sensors from the rear and was hoping to use one of them to replace the front o2 sensor that is malfunctioning, but that would only work if the front two were narrow band also. Thats why im trying to figure out whether or not the fronts are wideband or narrow band. (here is the page I saw that mentioned the widebands http://www.*********.com/forums/153-...o2-sensor.html insert 350z tech for asterisks.)

I tried counting the flashes of my CEL to read the code, and i think i've figured out why no-one can scan my code. As best I can tell by counting the flasshes, there are two long flashes, and then the light flashes two times, followed by a break and then 11 flashes, followed by a break and 10 flashes, followed by a break and then 3 flashes. I think the 11 flashes must be what is throwing off the OBD-ii scanners. I will attach a video of the CEL so yall can see if im screwing something up or doing something wrong, but im pretty sure there is something wrong with my ecu. Please fire away if any of yall have any advice or suggestions.

Thanks again 3hree 5ive 0ero for the help.

I believe in the video I film the light long enough to read the code twice, but then again, this is my first time doing that, so maybe not. sorry about the camera being tilted, I had it wedged into the steering wheel while I filmed.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, it was definitely scary. Glad I'm alive.

DFW Z33, let me know what you find out about your CEL. I'm curious as to see what may have triggered it and what the fix for it is.
