Texas World Speedway in College Station...

It will be about $250 for a weekend (+ brakes + tires + hotel, etc) with either the Porsche Club, Drivers Edge or The motorsports club they have there.

You would think that with Houston being the 4th largest city in the U.S. that we would have at least ONE decent racetrack in the area. While Texas World Speedway is a great place to play, It's not exactly what I would call "local" (it takes me an hour-forty to drag my '71 240Z up there)...of course, it all depends on what part of Houston you live in. Some of our club members live on the North-West Side of town, and it takes them less than 30 minutes !

The new track that is "supposedly" being built out on Hwy.288 is called Houston Super Speedway (www.houstonsuperspeedway.com).
Originally designed as a Nascar Oval Track, so many of our club members called so many times, begging for an infield road course, that they finally gave in and designed one, promising to name one of the curves after us.
Unfortunately, until I "burn-in" my first lap around the track, I'll believe it when I see it

You would think that with the Foyt Family based here in the Houston Area, that they would be more influential in having some type of road coarse built for our use/entertainment.

For drag-racing, you can't beat the track in Baytown (www.houstonraceway.com). We've gone out there a number of times (especially on Thurs. nites, when they run the 4 & 6 cylinder cars) and had a HOOT ! (check their schedule, I think they're through for this season). Unfortunately, I like more turns in my racetrack other than the turn onto the return road
We can only hope...

Hi yerself Enron,
hope you can make it out to our next Westheimer Cruise.
We've got sooo much stuff going on with the club right now, that we're having trouble coming up with a date.
I'll keep you posted when we finally do.

PeteH
have you ever run TWS clockwise? I've probably got a million miles on that track, but I've never run it clockwise...hmmmm !
It will be interesting to see how to do "the carousel" from that direction. The older Z's had a definate advantage in that curve over everybody else.

Hey Dave... I've done the short course once and the long course once in clockwise. Lots of fun!

The carousel is different depending on if you are doing the long course or the short course.

There's still space available for the November "clockwise" event... sign up!!!

zfastest,
if you are talking about the new Texas Superspeedway;
go to their webpage....they're putting in a road coarse !
Hope they get a Nascar contract for a race. That way, the track will get paid for and stay in business, and we'll get to rent the road coarse and have fun !
