more questions about utec...
I tried doing some data logging last night to see if I'm having any knocks, but evidently I dont know what I'm doing because I couldn't find where they logs were writing too. I'll definitely be reading some more utec manual today.
The UTEC doesn't save logs anywhere. Through hyperterminal, you have to "capture" the output to save in a log. It should explain this in the manual.
With UTI, it will do that for you on demand or for each "pull".

Auto tune has never worked for me. And if it did I would not trust it. Just do a manual log with the uti if it Knocks you will here a audio noise on your computer so let off. Check the log, tweak it than log again. Real Easy to do. AFR's are very important. I do not like the tables in the UTI program I only look at raw data.

Press 1 to enter logging (it will began to log then press space bar to stop it.)
Go to the top of the hyperterminal were it says Transfer, take your cursor to capture text, Click it then hit browse and put it in the folder you want and make sure you name it.
Then a box will come up.Hit start now your ready.
Hit space bar again to start logging and space bar to stop.
Once done you must before shuting off the car go back to transfer and hit stop capturing text. And the log will be saved.
You must name each log so it will be saved each time you go to transfer/ capture text. Every time you log.
Once you don it a few times it's easy and quick.
If you are new to road tuning have a friend ride with you to work the laptop.

Thanks for the help Frankie
afr's to work correct. I like the program I use it for logging only, and I use the manual log feature. But it does log as soon as you hit the load starting point. If I had a Carcomputer I would run the dashboard all the time...

^^ ya i spent the better part of last night messing with it. The ME autotune kicks out numbers that make no sense when looking at your target AFR file vs your logs.
maybe i'm doin it wrong.
Also, V1.0.4 fixed my AEM wideband working, but rpm doesnt show up. But I can see AIT's? Cant win.

I would definitely suggest the UTI even if you don't have a carputer, for the simple fact that it will auto log your pulls without having to do the capture thing in hyperterminal. Plus, your laptop will start beeping at you, "Danger to Manifold!!", if you start knocking - so hopefully you can let off the throttle before your floor pan falls out.
I have tuned and retuned and tweaked so many times since my original tune, that I haven't used the auto tune or target A:F features in a long, long time. I did back on the old version of the UTI software. 2.xx
I'm still using the Older version and that thing is retarded...
My target AF at load 60 and 5000rpm is 11.5:1 and my my log was 11.7:1. I tried using the autotune and it says add 3 (PW) on load 60@5000rpm coz I'm running a little lean compare to my Target A/F. That was fine by me... Then I looked at the the 80@6000rpm and my A/F was 11.2 but my Target A/F was set to 11.5:1, it says add 6 but I'm already .3 richer than my Target.
The best way is just look at the logs and adjust from there... I also have a Gtech that I use from time to time when making adjustment especially with my timing. Gtech do log TQ/HP which is pretty consistent so it gives me an idea how my TQ reacts when removing or adding some timing...

Hey guys quick question... I just installed my utec I bought off of the forum... and it didn't come w/ the "ground" wire so i neglected to hook it up... and i started my car and drop it a bit... does this mean I ruined my utec???? or will it be ok ????
It won't hurt the UTEC - will just cause some irregularities. Make sure to call up TurboXS to see if they can send you a wire that you can plug into the connector.
