EDIT: Nevermind, I answered my own question. What is the difference between the Bosch sensor and VW sensor? Also what is a good switched 12v power source to use? Sorry, not a wiz in the electronics field.

starting tuning with the UTEC and tuner today. A few questions maybe you guys could help me out with.

1. when changing fuel map I have been just changing across the board. 0-100%
Do you guys play around with changing them individually?

2. The timing I haven't really messed with, just the base map from TurboXS.
Do you mess with the timing that much unless you are on a dyno?

If anyone has them can you post you maps, just for a reference. I am figuring out as I go. thanks for all the help

Just follow the instructions in the manual, for reloading/updating firmware. This will turn your UTEC into it's brand new condition. It won't be blank, but it will be factory fresh.

no, don't change all the cells...that will really mess things up if you make global changes. You need to log some pulls on the road, or preferably on a dyno. Once you have data logs, you can see what load sites you are hitting, and make changes to AF and timing. This is really hard to do on the road (especially timing control), so I would suggest the dyno.

I just installed the Aquamist HFS-5 water/meth kit, can you integrate the Utec with it in case of a clog or malfuction the Utec will pull fuel and or timing so you don't blow up?

Utec is not capable of that, you need a full standalone like Vpro if you want that feature. Oh if you have a clog then why would you want to pull more fuel? You want to add more or basically switch to different map.

Quick question, is the speed limiter removed using open loop on the 03 non revup motors? would love it if someone can confirm this?

The utec will not remove speed limiter you can only raise rev limit.

Good luck. This is were UTI is great, it is very helpful adjusting the temp compensation when the IAT and A/F is also part of the log. It is also very helpful on comparing logs from different date since temperature varies from day to day.

Just to be clear when is the best time to or the only time to switch maps on the selector switch. During idle, while car is off or on the fly?

The manual says the motor has to be under 1800 rpms or so to change maps.

When adjusting ignition timing, what is a good amount of degrees to adjust by? .5? 1?

My load maxes out at 80%, and my MAF voltage tops out at 4.17. Should I reset my MAF calibration in the PARAMETERS to 4.2 for max MAF voltage, or will this cause a global change and screw everything up? I am thinking that the motor may be capable of higher loads if I do exhaust work, so maybe I should just leave the MAF setting alone?

could this lean spike at 5870 RPMs be caused by a knock detection?
