more questions about utec...

the utec doesn't have an RJ12 port. the rj12 port is only on the tuner.
Connect the utec and tuner the way I listed a few posts back. Once you are connected, you can toggle between the UTEC and the Tuner within the interface, while connected of course.

"TUNA" is TXS's slang for Tuner. :-)

"Closed Loop" simply means the ECU is driving the injectors & timing based off it's own targets.
"Open Loop" means the UTEC is driving the injectors & timing off it's own internal user defined tables.
There is a 'transition' from closed loop to open loop and back again, as the ECU and UTEC trade off control of engine management.

Great thread!
Just a couple questions.
When you make a run what gear should you be in? Should you be at WOT till redline?
I know that 4th is closest to 1:1 ratio but does that matter when tuning?
Does the utec record my A/F ratio if I have a seperate A/F gauge?
Just a couple questions.

yes 4th is good, yes WOT till redline.
UTEC wont record your a/f unless you have a turboxs tuner that plugs into your utec. I assume your talking about a seperate wideband? Your seperate wideband will not interface with the utec, although you can connect it to your laptop with a serial cable and use software that will allow you to mesh the widebands a/f readings with the utec log so you can compare. But there is some delay :P

You can recoord A:F along with the UTEC data in 2 different ways. If you have the TXS Tuner Wideband, connect the Tuner to the UTEC and log into both of them and the A:F will log together with the other UTEC data. If you have a separate A:F setup, you can use a program like the UTI interface (www.jeffsoftware.com) to log the A:F together with the UTEC data.
Here's one...but I'm pretty sure it's not the one your thinking about http://www.wrxhackers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2944
I think the other one can be found somewhere here though - http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=141

maybe you guys can help. I have my utec and tuner installed. I can read my AFR on the tuner and the utec works fine. My question is when I have the utec main screen up I can not see my tuner. Any suggestions, maybe something I am doing wrong. I have the tuner plug into the utec through the serial connections.

I am running a usb from my utec to my laptop. I am running a serial connection from the tuner to the utec. when I am on the main utec page I do not see the tuner at the bottom to switch too. Its like the utec doesn't see the tuner.
