UTEC and VCT un revup
hi, probably a dumb question: I have read everywhere that the UTEC cannot manage the VCT in anyway. any news on that front? are software upgrades available that allow this kind of control? also, say I do a map on the UTEC. do I need to reset the ECU with the usual "manual" procedure in order to benefit from the map?

I'm assuming you're talking about Variable Timing Control (VTC). No the UTEC cannot control VTC and you do not need to reset your ECU if you create a map.
Personally, though, I would reset the ECU before I did any data logging or map building. That way, your UTEC map is based off of a fresh ECU and not one that has "changed" from your driving habits. Otherwise, if you've been driving around for thousands of miles and decide to data log and build a UTEC map, then sometime after that you reset your ECU, your AFR may not be optimal anymore. I'm sure there wouldn't be huge differences but every little bit helps, right?
Also, a good way I've found to reset my ECU is by disconnecting the main harness at the bottom of the UTEC/ECU for a couple minutes. Quickest and easiest way IMO.

yes...VTC and not VCT...quick hands but slow brain. thanks for the tips mate. I wonder if TurboXS are planning on an upgrade that will be able to control the timing. gotcha on the reset thing, yes every little bit helps!

Hello,
There is no reason to reset the ecu after you have made your fuel or timing map changes. Any time you hit Ctrl-S to save, any change you have made is now active as long as you are on the correct map selector position.
The current software will not control VTC. We will have a software update later that will allow you to manipulate the cam angle. The UTEC does not alter the top speed limiter.
Thanks,
Jermaine~
