and if 5AT support is not yet possible, is there an ETA or work being done on it?

can someone confirm that a tuner can adjust it only if authorized (it is locked like FCON?)

I didnt really pose my Question right .
The Hydra can not control the tranny , but the tranny will perform like normal ?

Or ...The Hydra cant be used on a AT5 because there will be no tranny control at all ?

Wouldn't recommend self tuning unless you are very well versed on AEM/Motec/F-Con/Pactel......etc

When i called hydra and spoke to them, they told me it will not be locked down. The user will be able to tune it. The only way you wont be able to tune is that if the shop you buy it from puts a password in it so that you cant tune it.

i was reading through the hydra documentation on their website. they make a disclaimer up front about off road use only and that the product is not compliant with regulations for emissions etc. The manual does not mention OBD at all. The UTEC specifically states it does not interfere with OBD emissions testing. Anyone with info for the hydra in this regard?

Until a few of them get installed and reviewed . People arent going to buy them...so the longer it takes . Plus we dont have all the regular vendors on this site selling them yet . As soon as some one does a review and people ask for it...the vendors will start touting and pushing them . Look at the E-manage Ult. they pushed the chit out of them as the greatest....and now wouldnt suggest them at all

I know the waiting sucks; but there were some marketing technicalities that needed to be ironed out. The units specifically for our cars are undergoing vigorous endurance testing. The word is that the official launch is being targeted for May 2007.

The installation of the EMS is more or less completed on my Z, however, I did not have much time to do any follow ups; as I recently returned from a 2 week business trip. Now that I am back I shall be sitting with Vinny at the end of the week and see if I can come up with some time-frames.

Believe me it is worth the wait; I and many others wouldn't be so patient if it was just another Mick mouse attempt to manage and control our highly modified beast. I see the Hydra, as the next best thing on the market to the MoTeC, without sacrificing the creature comforts for extreme power and performance.

could you tell me why its marketed towards the MT6 only...at this time ? Could it still be installed on a AT5 and let the original TCM control the tranny ?

i posted on their forum - they replied that their unit currently is not talking to the TCM and without communication, the TCM is shifting very hard on the autos. So apparently it works but might physically damage the tranny (because of no feedback from ECU to regulate shifts).

They have not focused on the 5AT yet (TCM communication) but that is apparently in the works...

(I decided to go ahead w/ the UTEC for now because they could provide no time frame for having an application ready to go for the 5AT. Even if they had said, it'll take 3 months, I might've waited. But no timeframe at all might mean never, so...)

I am told that there is a work around to synchronize/match the speed feedback to the AT TCM for proper shifting response. As for time frames, I cannot tell, as the focus is on prepping for the Hydra launch dates. I would guess that we’ll all hear something about the crossover module sometime in summer. The key is if the demand is there the supply will follow close behind.

so............ any reviews yet? it's been awhile since it's been out.. nobody has bought it yet?

and it better not be locked so that only "authorized" tuners can tune the unit. I have my own local tuner that I trust.

I got a feeling its going to be like the AEM . No sponsors on this site sell or push them so your not going to hear about to many installs .

that's why it's so freakin hard to trust reviews on this site written by shop employees. I always wonder, "Are they hyping it up just to make a buck or are they really helping us out."
