Is a Utec just a utec. i was researching the utec, and some pages made it look like the Utec is vehicle specific. if it says "WRX Utec" could i use it on our car?
like i said, dumb question im sure, ive just never seen it brought up.
PS, while im feeling stupid.. lemem try this! Ive heard of the "Ebay Utecs" ... is this true, they have knockoffs? or are just off the back of the truck and theyre legitimate Utecs?

UTEC's are vehicle specific. They only make them for the 350Z, WRX, Evo, and STi.
Ebay UTECs (if you are thinking of what I am thinking) are real UTECs. They are typically $100-200 less than some retailers. However, keep in mind that TurboXS will not support a UTEC unless to buy it from an authorized dealer. I have heard that they are strict with this rule, which is fine.

I would be safe about it and buy it from a reputable dealer - that way should any problems arise you will have someone to help you with it. Its not worth spending a couple hundred less to get a "deal" on something that may or may not do what its supposed too.

support our sponsors, and dont take a chance on a UTEC that isnt supported by turboxs. I got my Utec and tuner both from seperate sponsors, both were easy to deal with and have good reputations on this board.
