Default UTEC - new GUI release??

Sup fellas,

I did a search b/c I remember seeing a thread months and months ago about the new Windows GUI for the UTEC that TXS is developing. Supposedly a 20x20 resolution (twice as much) for a more precise tune. Anyone heard anything more about this????? Do we know when its projected release date is???? Anyone played with the new GUI???? LMK!

I have heard it will be released sometime this summer, but I could be wrong.

I emailed Jermaine a few weeks back.. He said he had no clue..

Sucks too.. so many more options for tuning coming out and they are gonna be left in the dust.. So totally tempted to go AEM or FCon really soon now that I am FI..

Support for the UTEC is non-existent..

I am also temped to go with the FCon if TXS does not get their butt in gear.

That is the reason I asked. Also considering the same thing. Come on TXS...get the ball rolling!

I think that when TXS's new GUI come out there will be a lot of people buying UTEC's instead of FCon's. But who know.

Julian,

I witnessed it first hand sir.

I had 2 UTECS which were bad and had paid at least $120 in shipping charges to finally get a good one.. Speaking with the Jermaine over the phone isnt the most exhilirating conversation one can have... I am not the only one to admit this..

Am I going to be another person on this board that gets in a flaming, pissing contest with you?? I really try to avoid those threads.. Please dont start in this one.. We get along fine over IM and have even sent peeps to you to buy stuff in a pinch..

No I dont spend $1000's with Jermaine so I dont get top notch customer service like you..

If they dont come up with something soon, people(including myself) are going to ditch their product and go with whats better, up to date, and SAFER for our vehicles.

Can you call AEM or HKS and speak with a tech in reference to a problem your having and get an answer??
Couldnt agree with you more.. But I shouldnt have to if I Pay 3K for engine management which needs to be tuned once.. Thats why HKS Authorized dealer gets paid the big $$..

Yeah, I needed a mini molex connector to grab the voltage output coming from my tuner reg. for a W/B Display. I'm getting it three days after I placed my order. I'd call that customer service pretty good considering I bought the tuner used. Or, maybe the $25 price tag for the connector had something to do with the speed service

Also, are people not producing safe tunes with the utec through hyper terminal or do people just like fancy graphs of cool colors on their laptop?

I dont mind the Interface at all.. I would like to have more resolution for tuning purposes.. They say its gonna happen but thats it.. Having over double the amount with other EMS's is a no brainer..

Ken,

I cant understand why you think I was trying to get into a pissing contest with you??I was simply asking how you could make a blanket statement without an explenations, which you just gave..
FWIW I have not seen one legitimate bad UTEC to date. The problems in the original ones were self inflicted and due to poor grounding, mostly on G35's.
Jermaine is a very low key, quite spoken guy, not really cocky like most tuners on this board are, but he knows his stuff..Trust me..I must admit he speaks softly but carries a big stick.. He is a wealth of knowledge but has no control over the company he works for, and their Product development.
Keep in mind I do alot of business with Turbo XS and get the same answer you have gotten with their GUI, which is "I dont know".

I'm in Utah and have a UTEC. Can't figure out a way to get the P1444 code to stop coming up. I am in SLC and it seems to be the higher altitude you go the chances get better that you will have the same code come up. You might want to stay away from the Utec for now just for that reason. Multiple people in Denver have the same code as I do.

You and I both know that problem was not a grounding issue.. Yea its been taken care of but it was for sure not a grounding issue..

All I am saying is that there are more options now for tuning the VQ..

IMHO, They will lose lots of Biz very soon if they dont come up with something..

squash the BS guys. Anyone else hear anything about the new GUI. They had a preview at SEMA and figured it'd be close to done by now.

Actually it was 100% and I tested it on a car that had the issue initially, and when the utecs came back, it did the same thing, until I grounded it..Then it was fine..
There was an issue with the 2.6 software that made mapping a bit funny, but it was fixed asap..

I dont want to drudge up other issues from the past in this thread.. Lets stay on topic..

How about this.. I will pay extra for a new update that has a bigger resolution.. Hell I dont care about the GUI..
