I'm wondering if a tune can be made so that modified cars in "smog testing" states can pass the smog test. Optimized for emissions and such for a particular state. Or is it that an optimized tune "would pass" a state smog test. I'd really like to know. I'm not looking forward to the day (Jan 09') when I have to have the car smog tested.

I already have a TS reflash for my intake, manifold, headers, HFC, and exhaust but would go to Osiris/Cyphr if it had this "smog friendly" tuning ability.

I am running a pretty goofy setup for maps, but in all honesty I only need 1 map. My maps are as follows:
1 100% stock
2 Stock +ETC +7100RPM -Speed
3 Stock +AFR (aka 93 tune alone)
4 93 tune +ETC +7100RPM -Speed
5 Valet (3500RPM/45MPH)

I did this to compare with the stock tune, plus I wanted the ability to switch to the stock tune if I ever decided to remove some or all the parts on my car. I chose to have maps with and without ETC and Rev Limit Increase just in case I felt that it was not safe for my car. However, I think the thing I love most about this reflash was the rev limit increase. 7100 RPMs is awesome

Thanks for the info, I have been thinking about just three (stock / fully tuned / valet) but your comment about the rev limiter got me thinking... so how safe is the 7100 limit and how does the car react? Any issues so far?

Thanks!
C.

Can you post the charts with the different maps? I'm really want to see this. Thanks.

I'm not sure there's a chart of all the available maps. It sounds like a good idea to have one though. Maybe a list of all the maps people have selected so that everyone can see what's available.

My Osiris/ECU currently the following maps:
Map 1 - Stock (Factory Settings)
Map 2 - 87/89 Octane Tune
Map 3 - UpRev Generic Tune for 91 Octane
Map 4 - UpRev Generic Tune for 93 Octane
Map 5 - Valet (3500rpm; 40mph)

When I get my custom map back from UpRev, it will be map number 4 and the 87/89 octane map will be removed. I want to keep the maps I have now and I can always use the stock map if I can't get at least 91 octane gas.

No. In all honesty, I am not interested in spending hundreds of dollars on dyno runs just so people can tell the minor differences in the maps >< I will do the stock map vs the tuned map but i think that is where I draw the line

Here are my thoughts

Map 1 Stock (Factory Settings)
Map 2 Rev Limiter 7200RPM, Speed Limiter Removed, Optimized Throttle Control Map, Air/Fuel Tuning, Min 91 Octane
Map 3 Valet (3500RPM/35MPH)

Ok, so I am thinking of going F/I, here sometime soon if all goes well. My question is should I even bother with Osiris?

We have tuned FI Zs for larger MAF sensors, but like Matt said before, it’s not the kind of thing we can do via email. We need the vehicle in front of us on the dyno.
I am will be having the Performance Factory to the install and tuning. Is there a way we can tune it by e-mail by working with them? I really want to stay away from the piggybacking the ECU w/ Turbo XS UTEC.

Thanks,

Chad

bad idea imo. Stick with UTEC or risk blowing your engine.

I was talking about the revision Punkid mentioned above, that has a more robust flash module and is virtually impossible to hose the ECU.

I honestly wouldn't be afraid to reflash my ecu before the update. While the update will be beneficial, it is not necessary by any means. Just follow the instructions and you should have no problems.

Additionally, I do not want to install the software twice and create the potential for dll issues, etc. caused by installshield or whatever is being used.

Yea, I guess you are right about installing twice. But as long as you use that cleaner it appears to be okay.

And how does the Electronic Throttle Control work with osiris? Does it open the throttle body 100%? (if its true the the tb only opens 80% at wot)
