Default How to deCipher injector duty cycle?

Hey everyone.

I was trying to figure out how to get injector duty cycle from my Cipher cable and attempted to obtain it by using the formula I found on post #12 of this thread in the FI section:
https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...kit-w-fmu.html

Does anyone know if this is an accurate way to use the injector pulse and the rpm to obtain the duty cycle percentage value?

% duty cycle = ( pulse width / period )*100

period = 1/[engine speed (rpm) / 60]

With that calculation and changing units considering that the injector pulses listed are in milliseconds (have no units on my cipher so I don't know) I found the following calculation to give me a value that seems logical:

the amount pulse width/ period /100,000
These were the calculations I used.

RPM x PW / 1200 = %DC

Example: 8500rpm x 10ms / 1200 = 70.8% Duty cycle

Yep, Hal's got it. That's the formula I use. You can make that work in excel (or better yet Open Office) pretty easily w/ the Cipher logs.
We've been meaning to add that to Cipher for > a year, just hasn't happened. Now we're working on adding logging and map tracing functionality to the V2 ROM editor, so chances are that's where you will see that functionality finally come to be.

How will it with the Vortech SplitSecond Box? If the SS Box is modifying the signal will the Cipher read the actual pulse width or not?

If I'm not mistaken your SS Box will modify the signal BEFORE it gets to the engine and the OBDII reads AFTER (as an output) as opposed to reading what the ECU is sending although I'm not 100% certain on this.

Can someone from Uprev verify?

I don't know enough about how the SS works. Does it have it's own injector drivers, or is it just modifying the MAF and crank signals?
All I ever do w/ a split second is take it out. Never paid any attention to what signals it was modifying.

As long as the ECU is still the one driving in injectors, then the Cipher data log will be acurate.
