I know i need a tune because of my mods, but im in the process of replacing my sfr intake for a K&N typhoon so im waiting. Only reason im doing this is the smog legal thing in my area is getting crazy, I love the sfr intake.

So what is causing my detonation? WIth my current mods at wot i hit 11-12 afr. My problem is the other day i was on the freeway with air con on in 6th around 80 with 91octane and I could hear the detonation faintly everytime i gave it a little gas. I never noticed this before because i dont ever roll with no radio on.

Anyways i have only been running these mods for 2k miles on the new motor so hopefully no real damage has occurred, and as soon as i get that intake installed its dyno tune time.

 

You have a WB02 installed, hence how you know the A/F?

Yea i have an innovate wideband from when i was turbo. Unfortunately I dont need the Utec I have osiris, its just untuned.

bad gas probably. or fouled up spark plugs, bad coils

 

The plugs should be new unless the shop jipped me (they might have forgotten to switch them). Will half filling up with 105 octane help clean stuff out? Maybe some fuel injector cleaner?

 

K still getting detonation on the freeway and i heard some a wot in second. A/F ratio was reading 13 at wot. Is that to lean or too rich?

There is a 100 octane gas station near my house. Would that rid me of the detonation or only a good tune will solve it?

Best option would be to take it to a pro tuner and get it on the dyno. If there are other things going with your car beyong needing a tune, they should be able to help diagnose that. I know you said you are waiting for an intake to come in, so until then, it might be a good idea to knock back the timing a few degress and add some fuel overall to keep things safe.

 

Intake already came in so im ready to tune . Thanks i will set up an appointment with one asap.

 

Turned out i was getting a lot of detonation and it wasnt in my head. Tune fixed it though. Thanks for the help. GET YOUR CAR TUNED PEOPLE
