Can you resell a UpRev flash?
I don't mean a flash that's included with the cipher/Osiris cable. I know that can be resold via a relicense fee.
I mean a flash that's done at a shop (basic reflash) or when you send the ecu to UpRev though their mail in service.

Is this information part of UpRev's FAQs? I've honestly looked and couldn't find it. I'm not questioning your info but would like to settle a discussion with information straight from UpRev.
I am pretty sure you can use another person's tune as a base tune for your car. Mods would have to be similar.
I believe that is what Vince from RT Tuning did during my Osiris tuning. Both 1cockyZ and ____jb has similar steups to mine and I believe UpRev sent him JB's for my tune.

That wasn't really my question. Let's say I get a basic reflash from UpRev. No cable/Cipher. Just the reflash. Question is this. Can I somehow sell this reflash to anyone else?
I see that, but the ROM file is based on data logs and formulas, so it's more or less free to share (may not be easy to get and you may have to purchase it in the form of an E tune or Shop tune). The license is the thing that costs money to own and is ECU specific. Tuners probably consult w/ UpRev and they match cars with similar components as a base map for their custom tune.
I'm not answering your question, but do you see what I'm saying? What is your end goal?

No, there's no way to pull the flash from your car and stick it in another car. If you own the uprev cable and stuff, you could return your car to stock, have the cable re-licensed, and sell it, but the tunes would not be copied.

My understanding is you own the license when you get a tune. I believe you are asking if you could sell the license to someone else, have it relicensed for another ecu through Uprev for a fee and then the new owner could pay for dyno time at an authorized tuner.
Not really. I'm asking if you can resell an actual reflash that's not associated to any cable. On what information does your understanding come from? If it's from UpRev's FAQs, that would be great if you can point that out to me.
I've sold a relfash. But technically I sold an unmarried cable with the Cipher program. The person I sold it to had a different year/model. But they could still get a reflash once they got the cable relicensed to their car/ecu. The new owner gets a reflash to their application but they don't get as many etunes as if they bought it "new".

I went to National Speed for my tune so obviously they used their cable. My understanding came from the employee at NS. He informed me that I owned the license for my tune. If I were to go back for a retune, I would return and only pay for the dyno time. I thought you were asking if you could sell that right to the software to someone else.
I see where you would only have to play for the dyno time to get another tune on your own car.
Question in your case would be this. Let's say you wanted to sell your reflash to me. I'm out of state. Can you sell your reflash to me? With the cable, it's "yes". W/o the cable, I don't know.

Technically one could in theory get around that but I don't think UpRev really supports this type of thing (IMHO). Not at the price point they offer their non-cable reflashes for
It should not be a problem at all, Jeff your ECU would need to be hooked up to a cable (either a dyno shop or mailing the ecu to uprev) then they woudl flash a "back to stock" rom on your ecu. that then removes the lisc from your ecu.
Then whoever "purchased" your lisc, they would then need to mail their ecu to uprev, or if you Jeff went to a uprev dealer, then the purchaser would have to contact that shop or have a local to them shop contact them to get the lisc file off the cable thats where the confusion woudl be if you went to a uprev dealer.
Cliffs, best thing contact uprev, mail your ecu to them, sell the lisc letting purchaser know they have to mail ecu to uprev at that time you can tell uprev who is getting your old lisc.
