anybody think my cranking problem could be my crank angle sensor intermittently going out?

if you miss counter, continues to get hits after the car starts, then your crank sensor might be bad. if it stays at 0 or 1, then there is nothing wrong with it.

Its a magnetic switch, so it would tough for it to just work intermittently.

good point. i'll change my datalog to record once i flip the key and log miss counter. problem is, its so random that it more than likely wont happen when im trying for it. but its worth a shot.

Quite possible. The first place I see trouble from crank/cam sensors is during cranking.

The problem you are describing sounds more like cranking ignition timing and/or fueling related.

heres a quick look at some of my configurations. to give you an idea, my fuel set up is simple. walbro 255, dw 600's, return system. hal, can you take a peek at this and see if anything unusual catches your eye?

What is your idle IPW (the fuel injector msec read out when the car is idling)? My post start enrichment at 0 and 1 secs is set to like 100% in cold weather. Maybe 50% in hot weather. 15% is nothing. I have no trouble starting at all with these values.

i will take another look at my map. i could post that up too for you to take a look at. this morning i had a problem with post start enrichment. so i'll increase those values a lot and that will fix it. still having problems with cranking and getting it to turn over tho. crank crank tick/stop problem still exists.

well its not that i have a problem STARTING. its just that i have a problem getting it to turn over. i messed with my crank ignition timing by adding 6 percent, nothing. but i did change my post start enrichment by adding about 20 percent. this morning i didnt have any problems keeping it running properly. but i did have problems getting it cranked over. crank crank tick/stop crank crank start.

Sounds like a dead battery or starter.

yep, fuel has nothing to do with the engine not being able to physically turn over.
