Default Haltech Variable Cam Timing !!!

In ECU Manager, in the Variable Cam Timing Table either for intake or exhaust, the range of input is between -10 to 50 degrees that's around 60 degrees of motion. the stock sprockets have a 20 degrees of motion which translates into 40 degrees of motion relative to the crank.

Now my question is does haltech's (-10) degrees means the cams are fully retarded or 0 means that the cams are fully retarded ??

the reason i ask this because for one month now or so, i have a valve-train noise at idle similar to an engine that needs proper valve lashing but by coincidence i discovered that when blipping the throttle once will diminish the sound and the car will sound like stock again and that's with 272 Jim wolf cams, so its not a shimming problem. i feel its a sprocket not returning to its original position or hunting.

I wish that haltech manual had more pages even if they were blank.

Engine Spec's:

rev-up.
GTM 3.8 short block.
coswoth heads, Valve train and plenum.
700bb jim wolf kit.
aps extreme fuel system (really bad injectors will go with ID1000).
Jim Wolf C8R 272.

Look at your cam timing actual, and you will see they won't go much below 0 +/-, even if you command -10, due to mechanical limit. Same applies to the top end.. stock cam sprockets will not allow for physical adjustment beyond ~40. Cam timing will be 0 at idle.

Also, as for the injectors... we have ID1000s in stock when you are ready

thanks for the info hal, definitely will call you regarding the ID1000

I'm thinking of making osiris control the VTC, is there a way to disconnect the cam control from haltech.

^ yes.. you would connect the cam control wires from the engine harness side of the Haltech patch harness, to the oem ecu side of the patch harness.
