Having some issues with my car when I engage the VVT through the haltech. It's a VQ35de.
As long as the Haltech doesnt engage the VVT, the engine idles and runs fine. When the VVT is engage the car sputters and shuts off.
I'm using BC springs with Kelford 272 camshafts, any ideas?

How I remember it ... there is a flaw/hiccup where the haltech doesnt pick up on the cam sensors with aftermarket cams. RCDash and Hal are excellent resources as they helped me. Ive been told there is a modified firmware version that helps this issue if you are running a standalone or if you do an idle to redline rpm sweep it's supposed to reset the sensors.
You may want to rule out the obvious with ensuring you have good wire connections on the solenoids, camshaft, crankshaft connectors. I've nearly severed a VTC solenoid wire a few years back. I've gone as far as cleaning out the solenoids with brake cleaner and bench tested the solenoids.
