So I've never really made a thread about my car, but I think this one is worth sharing. I think my z is pretty much like everyone else's. It's on '04.5 made in Japan. Modding was few and far between but I knew it wasn't my car's fault and it deserved some good parts when I could save the money.
2005 - Stillen True Dual Exhaust and Stillen intake
Awesome exhaust, Stillen said 14hp and 12tq
Switched the crappy u-bolt clamps for stainless steel band clamps ftw.
Intake isn't made anymore, I guessed 6 hp/ and 6tqs
2006 - made my oil catch can out of a sprinkler valve and made a grounding kit
haha, whatever, they serve a purpose, I dump a lot of oil out of that thing. As for the grounding kit, my car has a pretty large aftermarket stereo setup, that'll teach you about grounding.
I figure it can't hurt.
2009 - (college was expensive) - Motordyne 5/16" isothermal plenum spacer
Felt the car pull A LOT harder beyond 4600rpms. Installed in a driveway. Motordyne says about 11-13hp, didn't have a torque figure, so I guesstimated 8tq.
2011 - Motordyne Art pipes
No numbers on the site, but of course browsing made me estimate 14 hp and 14 tqs. Felt nice new power down low and I like the smell of the gasoline haha gas mileage bye-bye.![](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/icon17.gif)
So here I am thinking I've got a 287hp/274tq (@ the crank) stock motor and I'm rollin around being all cool with my mods taking me well into the 330's at the crank. Heard somewhere we have 16% drivetrain loss so I'm
driving around with 280 at the wheels.

Imagine this to my surprise. 237hp at the wheels; aka = bone stock no mods. 2k worth of bolt-ons ons and ZERO gain:
I was one sad panda.
Luckily, I had planned to get my test pipes and a tune at the same time and I took it to the best shop this side of the mason-dixon aka Hill's Garage in Baltimore, MD.
My AFR was pretty whack 14's til right before redline where it richened a little. Long story short, I gained about 1hp and 1lbtq AT THE WHEELS per minute. 50 minutes later, my dyno sesh was complete. God bless that uprev.
Now I have stock crank power at my wheels, pretty great and all you can really expect from a bolt-on only build. Those last 15 to 300 are a losing fight, especially on a DE engine like mine.
I included all that description of the way I felt about my mods post-install to just show that, I dunno - maybe I'm an idiot, or maybe the butt-dyno lied. I really felt better everytime, but the dyno-dyno does not lie.![werd](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/werd.gif)
Final Numbers: 287.0whp / 272.2wtq

It was perfect. Nice looking, good handling, one of the best.
I didn't touch a thing on it. Car was perfect. I even liked the simple functional interior. All I did was put a set of Nitto drag radials 245/17's on stock wheels. I did 13.8's at 99/1000 mph & I was a happy guy.
Learning later that the 08 had much more to offer, I sold my 04 to a young soldier & told him don't touch it, just enjoy this car.
Even with a much faster car that I have today, I still can't forget that sweet, perfection of a car....

Otherwise, dunno what to tell you. Maybe they just drew a nice blue line in MS paint and called it a day? (My friend and I were joking.) Something about Hill's perfect 30/30 on Google Reviews might suggest otherwise...
What about my mods / graphs says to you that number is whack?
![dunno](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
Dunno a ton about dynos, so if that matters here's a pic of the dyno to blame this magical 287whp....it was a nice, chilly 55*f and 0% humidity- that never hurts either.
Also, tried a video (might not work yet)
Bonus for real flamers, check out my sweet painted stockers fresh for winter.

I have been lurking on the Tuned section on here for a little looking for info:
I have seen some Used TurboX piggybacks on some forums and I know they are discontinued for the Z. The site only offers to download the maps + Pc software.
I have an opportunity to purchase a TurboX piggy for about 100 bucks online used. My only mods are catback exhaust and I will be getting some test pipes. I am aware that with said pipes, a tune is required. Will the TurboX "intake and Exhaust" map be enough for this task? Is it any good? Is there anything else I need (sensors?)
Here is the link I have:
http://turboxs.com/shop/246-350z-utec-discontinued.html (select downloads)
Thanks

I don't know. If you have a DE, there is no exhaust side tuning. You need wideband o2 sensors- and a search button.

Little update, I'm also getting about 4.5mpg more after the tune. My city is like 16.5 (Washington, D.C.) and my HWY is in the upper-mid/high 20's. Prior to the tune my city was down around 12ish. Pretty happy about that now.
