Default Connection issues with Cipher/Osiris

I am currently tuned with Uprev and have the Tuner version. I am tuned already, but wanted to plug in to Cipher due to a failed Emissions test.

I plugged in my laptop with the key "on" and ecu cable plugged in. Initially It showed up in Osiris as cable detected then I toggled over to Cipher and I lost my connection. Despite fiddling with it, I could not establish a connection to either.

Is this common? Is my Ecu Pin the issue or is there something else with the software? I have the original software loaded since 2010. I was tuned with the tuners software.

Im nervous I can't get a connection after initially getting one. I did not flash anything or even attempt it.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Have you tried plugging your laptop in and bringing up Cipher immediately? Don't go through Osiris. The Cipher program should detect your vehicle's ECU, ABS and BCS computers as the key activates these systems. After that, you should be able to go through each section and identify the codes.

Just unplug the cable and plug it back in. Happens all the time with the security coding. Also I've never been able to get it to work with more than one uprev program at a time. Make sure that only one program is open at a time (cipher, osiris, or rom editor) and see how it works.

^ I had tried to reconnect, however I may have had both apps open as well to see if a connection was established. Unfortunately after I initially had connection there was never one regained. My feeling is that it may be the obd port, but I hope not.

the pins get pushed around easily in the cipher cable as well. mine are all different lengths, so i have to wiggle it every time to get a connection.

its not your obd2 port.

If I do gain a connection, how do I test or reset the readiness sensors? Or will that screw my tune?

cipher does not see system readiness tests (SRT). you need a normal code reader for that.

anytime you reset any codes, you are resetting your readiness monitors as well. That has nothing to do with your tune
