Unhappy 350z NATS problem car wont start please help..

hi peeps,
Names marty

Im having this ongoing problem with my 350z, when I try to start it it cranks and cranks but doesn't start, after alot of searching I belive its the NATS system thats causing the problem,

now as i've learned from my research, replacing the NATS antenna will cost a lot and that you would have to replace the keys and ecu.. which I definitely don't want to do

which leaves us with the second and final solution which is "disable NATS" via uprev software.

all I want to do is disable/remove NATS, not really interested in the tuning of the car. so what are my options? i'm kind of a newb in this, what equipment do I need to disable NATS?

all help is greatly appreciated.

A licensed uprev tuner would need to do it. You would not be able to do it yourself as it is a licensed tuner only feature. You would not need to buy the cable if you dont want to and have a local uprev tuner, but you will have to pay for a license I believe.

Osiris standard would be the way to go then, you get the reflash cable in the mail and reflash the tune file yourself. Costs $500 tho..

thanks for your reply, i just checked the uprev website and found the only certified uprev tuner in sydney which happens to be 15 min drive from where I live, I went there and told them the problem, the only guy there said come back on monday because the guy who does the flashing was not there, he didnt give me a price coz he didnt know how much is would cost.

so my question is how much should I be expecting to pay just to have the NATS system turned off, without any performance tuning (not interested in any performance tuning).
how much do you guys get charged by uprev tuners in the US?

$300. That's the cost of the license with no tuning or reflash cable

so they called me back today telling me it will cost $550.. I asked why since the licence only costs 300,
he said the standard licence is 300, and turning the NATS requires a higher licence or something, is this correct? or are they trying to rip me off?

well yes it requires a licensed osiris tuner to do it, but you dont need any higher level license for it to be done other than the $300 tune. they are just trying to make a quick buck imo unless they are including a dyno tune with that..

oh no he said only to remove NATS $600, than I asked if he could do better, than he said $550.
I asked if this is with a dyno tune, he replied dyno tune is $1200 :/ which I didnt even want in the first place..
the funny thing is the first person I spoke to from that shop told me that the licence would cost $300, now this guy who is in charge of the tuning tells me $550, btw am i allowed to name the place or is it against the forum rules?

I just contacted an ebay seller that sells the uprev standard and cable in a package
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/250599689...84.m1423.l2649

I asked them if I could turn off NATS using standard version, this is their response:

"if you want to make any major changes you will need the Tuner version(like turning of NATS) unless you have someone with a pre-made tune with NATS turned off that they can sell you. with the stranded cable you can make small changes to things like idle and and rev limit. other then that if you want to turn it off your self you will need the tuner cable."

so are you sure NATS can be removed %100 by using the "standard" uprev?

You DO NOT need the tuner version to disable NATS. No end-user version of Osiris can do it, a certified Uprev protuner has to do it for you, but you can use the standard version to reflash the NATS disabled tune. Didn't you get my PM last week?

That shop that's local to you is straight up lying to you. All they have to do is click one button in their software then reflash your ECU. Nothing special is required... we do it all the time for ECU/ engine swaps or guys who want to use unprogrammed keys.

hi seymore, i just saw your PM just now, thanks for your reply
I just went to another tuning shop (somehow a second licensed tuner just poped up in sydney on the uprev store locater website) so i drove down to see what they offer,

he said $450 to do it himself OR $550 to sell me the standard version of software with the cable (which he had in stock) and I do it my self.

which is the same as me buying the package from USA for $500 after USD to AUD conversion its $550 AUD.

if I did buy the $550 and do it my self would i be able to sell the cable on ebay easily? how much would it go for?

you wont be able to turn off the NATS yourself. ONLY licensed uprev tuners have a special software license with that feature. You will still need a licensed tuner to do the NATS no matter what route you go. You could probably sell the cable for maybe 180-200 shipped. Most tuners charge $50 to turn off NATS.

Are you planning on reflashing the license onto your ECU then selling the cable after? In that case you'll only get around $150 for it. If you later on reflash the car back to stock you can sell the cable for around $350. (not sure about ebay, those of forum classifieds prices)

Most tuners do NOT charge $50 to turn off NATS, if you buy the license for $300 (US) they will just disable it for you and reflash. Not including any custom tuning however.
