Where to tune?
Hey, I’m just curious if anymore knows where I can go get tuned after a turbo kit install and fuel pump/fuel injectors upgrade. I live near Louisville Kentucky and I’m willing to travel. Their is only one place in Louisville I know of that will tune and it will be $1,600-$2,000 after it’s all said and done. They also said they’re booked out for months. That price seems insane. If anybody could help it would be appreciated, thanks.
I know somebody who used to work for them and he was saying how their work might be good but they are overpriced and do rip people off quite a bit. Who knows though. I’m really not wanting to pay close to 2k just to get tuned either. And I’d also like to get in sooner. I’m consider Corbin Johnson tuning but it’s in Indy which is a couple hours from me

what tuning platform are you working with? what are your power goals? specs on the car?

You dont want a 'cheap tune'...you absolutely do not want a $300 tune.
how many hours? and how much money did you spend installing this turbo kit and everything that went in to it? the last thing you want is a incompetent tuner that melts your build to the ground.
it goes back to the adage of 'cheap fast reliable' ... the reason they are so good is because they have a stellar reputation. Yes, you are paying $800 for a tune and $800 for their pedigree reputation of extreme knowledge, experience, and customer service. They are quite possibly the best shop in the nation for these platforms.
next, you dont want a tuner that can tune you tomorrow ... having a backlog of work is a sign that they are good at what they do and many people know this.

Uprev is $300 for software and one or two hours will be ~$200 to $300 for tuner + dyno? $500 to $600 all in?
My haltech tune was $750 flat rate back in 2016
My link tune was $300 for 3hrs of dyno rental and $300 for the remote tune $600 all in (I also bought my Link G4 from the tuner and he gave me a price break on his hourly rate and he set-up all my base maps included with the price of the ECU).
Shooting from the hip, I think you're looking at $500 to $1000 when the car rolls off the dyno...
just my 2cents...
For anybody wondering, they will be using Uprev tuning platform. I understand what all of you are saying and I don’t need to be “flamed” lol. They charge $400 for the license and then $200/hr for the dyno. They said boosted applications can take 6-8 hours. So say it takes 8 hours at most, that’s $2,000 total after the car rolls off the dyno. No I do not think a $2,000 ($1,600 without license) tune is reasonable lol. And I also said I heard bad things about them from someone who used to work for them so I want other recommendations.
you get what you pay for!

I'm just gonna flame you a little bit, ok? mostly in good-fun so dont get all bumm bumm hurt, ok!

With that being said I have reached out to a few tuners and it seems like I may have to go with dynosty. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to spend close to $2,000 for a tune! And the waiting list sucks too but oh well

That sounds a bit high. I was quoted 600 for tuning on a dyno. Adding in having to buy uprev and you are looking at about 1k. There are quite a few tuners that will etune a BP kit, but I cannot recommend that. You would need to talk to them and see what you are comfortable with and what your goals are.
You could also check out SOHO. I dont have experience with them, but they seem to have positive reviews and are familiar with the turbo vq world.

I have not installed yet but my Boosted Performance turbo kit will be here tomorrow ($7,000) along with 440cc injectors and 255lph fuel pump. Uprev MAF sensor ($350) step 1 colder plugs and a full exhaust system. I’m not saying I want a $300 tune at all. But them saying it will be $1,800-$2,000 for a tune when it’s all said and done is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. Could quite possibly be more. May be my only option though, we will see.
and start a build thread!
