If Tadashi has been working on this and has a program for 04.5's, where the hell did this ULEV Bull$hit come from now? Which ones have ULEV? I dont remember seeing it on my window, and I have a 04/04 production date...what the hell?

the new ecu is EXTREMELY different from the old one twice as large memory wise.

How can you tell by looking at your window sticker, will it say or is there a special code like on the ecu?

I was told by the Nissan headquarters, all 04's are ULEV. The new flash that Techno Square is working on will allow for 04 flashes. The jury is out when it comes to the 05's. When I spoke with a rep this past Friday, everything was ready to go on the Flashes with the exception of some hardware that was being shipped from Japan. I am trying to schedule a shop visit to them on Saturday, 23 Oct for my flash and tuning. I'll let you know once I am ready to head to L.A.

"Sports Car" and "ULEV" in the same sentence sounds like a F***ing OXYMORON to me.

Well, I HOPE then, this flash will do more for us than it did for the 03/03.5 ECU's............

So can anyone say exactly what the difference is between LEV and ULEV? What the mechanical/electrical/programming changes are that make ULEV less desirable?

I don't know if it has anything to do with ULEV or not, but my 2004.5 ECU seems to be handling my mods well. My A/F ratio is between 12.5-13.5 throughout the power band, and even my low voltage at idle when I installed the UR crank pulley seems to be correcting itself. I seem to have gotten a good boost from my NA mods, so I am unsure whether an ECU flash for my 04.5 is a good idea, especially at $600...

Folks relax.

Being ULEV2 compliant simply means the bulk of the emission under moderate load is better monitored and controlled. Power output under 100% load is rarely compromised. In the case of the ULEV2 spec'd 04s ... yall actually have on-board wide-band O2 sensors!!!

The factory may have leaned out certain part of the map to better cope w. a particular EPA testing procedure, but once you've got the TS ecu in ... it's a thing of the past.

I dont know about you guys but, I just went to the track for the first time after installing my headers without any ecu changes and I was running so lean that I was actually detonating near redline. I have a feeling my A/F is way too lean, and I hope they get that new ecu programming done soon.

still waiting along with you guys...

they're ramping up their new engineer to help out with the tuning aspect..

we'll be in SEMA in two weeks so hopefully after we return from vegas, we'll have something more concrete... i think the hardware circuit board for the programmer is still on the way from japan.

All the Zs and Gs are ULEV. In early 2004 they were bumped to ULEV2 status. It should be stated on the emmissions placard under your hood.
