Question Stock or not ? (UK)

OK, now here's the question for those of you that have got on the Pre-Order trail for the UK...

...are you going to keep your car stock, or have you got some modifications planned?

Post your plans, wishes, thoughts...

Thought I'd get a nodding dog, except there's no parcel shelf.....Stock I think at present, not sure that when it eventually arrives that I'll trust it to anyone to fiddle about and experiment on it.

I also think that UK insurers will struggle with rating (18 min), modifications will send them running for the hills!!!

Am I just being pants, or did you mean not mechanical?

Well assuming the trip computer is just that, I shall slap a GPS in it straight away. Got a clever if messy set up in my Impreza with a handheld GPS and a PocketPC.

Unlikely to make any performance mods - I should think it'll be slightly slower than my Scooby under 60 and slightly faster above 60, but the Scoob scares the wibbles out of me already.

I can't imagine insurance will be a problem when I'm coming from a grey import Impreza STi (group 20 and 1600 quid last year! ).

I'll probably keep it stock for a while. I certainly don't think it will need any performance mods!.
The only part I would consider changing is the front bumper. I think, from a styling point of view, this is the only weak part of the car. From forums of other regions there seems to be a lot of styling kits available (grills, bumpers etc), and there's some which give the front end a much more aggressive look, so it's certainly a possibility some time in the future.

Never done anything to a car before, other than change the tires from stock to something with some decent grip (stock Almera GTi tires to Pirelli P6000's).

Already got the personalised plate (see Postman Cometh thread).

Am considering the following:

Window Tint
NISMO Spoiler

Haven't considered doing anything to the front of the car yet... will see what my Nissan man tells me about aftermarket parts...

Not really into performance mods, but perhaps:

Grounding Kit
Air Intake

I've quoted on one of the new Audi TT's (3175cc), as the 350Z isn't quotable yet...

Came to about £883 or something similar. I did this on: http://www.elephant.co.uk

I'll probably get one of those mesh grilles to start with, then in a couple of years maybe that Nismo bodykit to spice things up. I have *never* seen a bodykit I liked, but that one just looks like they sent the Z to the gym and it signed up for yoga! Beautiful.

Well, as my screen name suggests, I fell in love with the VeilSide Version 1 kit from the very moment I saw it

I know it's not everyone's bag, but what the heck...

So I've just got to figure out the import route - direct through VeilSide, or JapanParts most probably & we're away.

Other mods are likely to be tints, new Z badges (if Artsci ever pulls his finger out) & maybe the Eibach springs - time will tell...

I was hoping to replace the Nissan badges which appear on the front bonnet, rear tailgat & wheels , with equivalent 'Z' badges . Does anyone know if the bonnet and tailgate are pressed to allow the seating of these badges (like some other Nissan models) or are they simply stuck on with double sided sticky tape and a cornflakes packet? I'll still have to get a hold of the badges though, so if anyone knows of where they can be had, or someone that can manufacture them to my needs, I'd be glad to know....
And , oh yes, Got my new Reg Plate ordered today. Can anyone spot the link?

V6 DNA

Anyone else got a related plate to stick on their new car?

In answer to your question:-

The nose badge is recessed into a pressing & retained with two pins

The rear badge is not recessed but still has the two pins

Do a search for "Artsci" & you will find some info on Z badges (similar to my Avatar)... but we're still waiting on some hard results at the moment.

Others have tried to fit the side Z badges on the front & back, but have experienced problems with the body curve... & Wadd has made some polished stainless steel Z badges also...

With regards the plate question, check out my thread "The Postman Cometh" - Z DNA -

Thanks for the info, I've dropped a line to Artsci asking what's happening...
I'll try look a bit further afield too...

Let yous know if I have any success

OK then, this is what I'll add....

New Z badges front, rear and wheels from Artsci (he says he's still waiting for the designs, but he's doing them for sure).

New Concept style reflectors/indicators (amber LED's).

Amber interior lights (maybe).

Front Grille change (If I see a nice one)

Earthing Kit.

Maybe some performance mods later, when there's more available.

Not body kits or spoilers though. Never been a big fan.

Hopefully all will be available prior to my Q4 2003 delivery, and I'll try and persuade my dealer to fit them for free

What about adding back seats.

I've driven one of these cars and there is loads of space in the back, twice as much as the TT.

[B]What about adding back seats.
I'm assured the front passenger seat is big enough to... oh, you mean for carrying extra passengers?
