I just found out that this isn't CARB legal. Not really sure what that means BUT is it something I have to worry about here in CA? Dealership won't install it but found someone locally that will do it for $60.

maybe I should just pay the this local Z dude $60 bucks to install it. BUT before that I need to get some advice from the California people. Jeff@WCN told me that his dealership doesn't install Nismo intake on 07 because its not CARB legal. What kind of trouble can I get into if i get this intake installed. Sorry if I keep asking this in a whole bunch of different places way too many times. Thanks

I live in California... (Santa Clarita) and i know its odd that its not carb legal cuz usually aem is and since aem made this intake u would think so but, if i get pulled over simply..
" It came with the car when i bought it sir."

I highly doubt the drag unit is going to pull you over for a routine check under the hood unless your street racing in that case your asking for it but otherwise stay cool and dont worry about it. Have it installed anywhere as long as they have some idea what they are doing and then enjoy!

got it. Do we have to take our cars for the 2 year inspections? what about then? I've just been in Cali for 5 months, not sure how that stuff works. Been about 2 months since I ordered my custom plates. They charged my credit card, but I haven't heard from them since. But yeah, i'll stick to the topic. Don't CA people have to get their cars SMOG tested every 2 years?

The only trouble you would prolly get into is if they did check under the hood and there was no CARB sticker on the intakes. They will prolly just write you a fix it/state ref ticket where you go to one of the states smog test stations and get checked by them. They are very strict when it comes to test, I almost failed in my old car because I had an aftermarket oil cap. They gave me 30 minutes to go down to kragen and get a stock one.

I suggest you keep the stock intake and just put it on for any smog test. Also $60 for an intake install is cheap.

Word. So a fix it ticket would mean for me to spend another $60 bucks to get them to put the stock intakes back on, the cost of the fix it ticket + cost of state smog test + $60 for putting the nismo back on? PITA?

Guys the strut bar is adjustable. Mark the location of the center adjustment point with a black mark. This will alow you to know how much you should tighten it when reinstalling it. Then you need to loosen the bar before you remove it. You will see a adjust point in the bar on the driver side. You need to loosen the two nuts and then turn the center portion until loose. Remember the nuts are counter threaded. So you will turn to the right to loosen and left to tighten. When you go to reinstall it you need to adjust it to fit back on by turning the center portion. Once it is on ie: bolts installed, then you tighten the bar back up so the bar is tight and the black mark is on top. Then tighten the lock nuts and you are done.

When you do this the strut bar is one of the simplest things you can change.
