Default 07 Nismo Exhaust Concern

Guys i read a thread saying that the 07 exhaust is different that the 06s.

Such as header flange and cat flanges.......

But my concern is that every site that sells the nismo exhausts had just changed the years from 02-06 to 02-07.

Please give me your feedback people with 07s with the nismo exhausts and hfc or tps.

thanks,
kevin

the flange from the headers to the cat is different, but from the cat to the exhaust is the same. any exhaust that fits the pre 07 will also fit the 07

my bro and I are both rocking nismo catbacks.. no problems, good fitment.. maybe soon to buy high flow cats, we're just debating on metallic substrates and price. I'm sorta worried that the HFC's will creak, break, crack, or vibrate against some part of the car...

Just last week I installed my Nismo cat-back that was once on my '03, now on my '07. IMO it actually fits better on my '07 than it ever did on my '03. Exhaust hangers are all in the same location and the bolts on the '07 cats fit up pefectly. The one thing I did notice was that the Y-pipe, asside from being a different shape than the '03 OEM, is also about 1/4" longer in total length. This made no difference at all in the installation. The tips came out to the exactly the same position as the OEM. The OEM '07 exhaust seems to be improved over the '03 OEM; better flowing Y-pipe and lighter in all 3 parts.

I had my nismo installed this weekend and I did notice that it does sit like the OEM Exhaust.

Funny... I was gonna say that same thing about you.

The Nismo cat-back isn't really my only mod. Mine's is a base '07 but I put a VLSD from an '06 in, so it is essentially in Enthusiast trim. I also have RPF1's w/ RT-615s, but I still have the OEM wheels & tires. We can do a comparision at the next NW Z car meet we attend. I'm more into autoX/track than drag racing so I think anyone w/ any experience running a 1/4 mile would easily have a couple of tenths advantage over me. A rolling 2nd or 3rd gear pull would probably be a better comparision.

The 'ol butt dyno told me it made more power when I put in in my '03. How much more, I don't know. For this '07 I haven't had the opportunity to test it in some of the areas that I've driven before to compare the Nismo system to the old one.

i was thinking a roll also, cause i wanna compare cars, not drivers. i'm pretty sure the vlsd won't make a difference. and about the wheels, i'm prettys sure the difference will be minimal, but if u don't mind changing them out, stock wheels would be best in the name of science.

i think they're planning to do something this sat locally, if so, i'll see u there

I never worried about that until I did some reading about HFC's in the 03-06.
Sounds like it was a common problem, particularly with the Nismo exhaust/HFC combo (cracked exhausts and HFC's). Lots of previous threads on the subject, none of which makes for reassuring reading!

ya some sponsor (Z1 performance) said it could be from the way people tighten their bolts.. you tighten then like you would a wheel.. crisscross style. but I still wouldn't be too sure.. i'll wait and see what 07 people do. But from I read I believe it was testpipes that were cracking at the flanges and not HFCs.. but still.

i have the Crawford HFC with the Nismo exhaust (2007 350z) it does rattle a little bit when the car warms up but after 5 minutes of driving the rattle goes away and by the way the hfc + nismo exhaust SOUNDS AWSOMEEE.... and the hfc flanges were different from the 07 to the 06's.. the exhaust was exactly the same

and here's another, although as one of the posters above have pointed out, seems to be more of an issue with test pipes

after watching many videos, i think i am going to go with HFC and nismo. Test pipes get way to raspy and high pitched sounding.....it loses the deep growl.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArmurHxQvaU says enough

also i can see people wrenching down on one side of the flange then the other, when the flatness between the flanges are most likely not perfect.
Resulting in alot of stress between them.
