Default Yes another oil question...

So I finally did my first oil change at 2500 miles. The oil was a nice golden color but did not look too bad. My question is, should I use conventional oil and change at every 2500 miles or should I switch over to synthetic (after I hit my 10k mark) and change every 5000 miles? Pros and cons? The cost is about the same. $40 for 12qt of conventional or $40 for 6qt of synthetic. Sure I would buy two oil filters instead of one but who cares. Any input would be great. Thanks

Sean

when u hit the mark of 10k miles switch to full synthetic oil. I would recommend amsoil 0w-30. U can change it around 5000 miles.

Switch to synthetic whenever you want.
Stick with the recommended intervals in the manual.

it takes around 8,000miles the engine breaks in, PROPERLY!!

After 8k when ur engine is broken in, then you use synthetic oil.
It not recommended before the 8k or 10k because the sythetic oil
protects the engine form wearing out (in this case its a bad thing, because the engine has to break in..DUH)

People stay till 10k, just to be safe. but hey that just me...

What ever you say man!
I changed my factory breakin oil and followed spec with breakin. I switched to amsoil and have had no problems, on my second oil change and she's spot on. In the end this has been debated over and over. So with that said do what you feel is right and enjoy the ride. I know i will!

P.S. you used duh in the wrong format=used derisively to indicate that something just stated is all too obvious or self-evident.
"this thread is a question so it's not self-evident" j/k

Cheers

Kevin

o and +1 on the amsoil again

Based on the tiny miniscule size of filter and sump you would always be better off changing conventional oil AND FILTER every 90 days/3750 miles unless you are in extremely cold climates such as Alaska, Minnesota, ND etc or extremely hot climates such as lower Arizona, Texas deserts etc.

Adding a larger oil sump by a few quarts can almost double the life of conventional oil why many BMW,MB, exotics use an 8 quart sump.
Nascar mandates 24 quarts because the engine go thru a quart every 50 miles.

Two ways, look up a local dealer, or order it from the main sight online.
It's about the same price as royal purple, and well worth it

Cheers
