what is the general consensus of clutch failures on the 07 Z's? Master/slave cylinder? Clutch dampener? I am really looking forward to purchasing an 08 Z in the near future...But after reading many complaints about clutch failures on the 07 Z, it's making me think twice about purchasing...

I also filed a complaint, mine has been fixed but it should still be addressed by Nissan. This is potentially very dangerous.

Moderators must still be eating leftover Turkey..

On the bright side... There are now 7 complaints regarding the clutch issue filed with the NHTSA's ODI unit!!!!!

Keep up the good work guys, this has got to get their attention.

I personally entered a post on Edmunds.com and Consumerreports.org to enlighten the masses.

I'll send Wired a PM and see if this can't get stickied.

Also, I'll see if he can link it from the regular 350Z section, since not ALL the HR guys are coming in here.

EDIT: Sent the PM.

Default Some helpful links on the issue

These links compile some of the Forum user's experiences with the problem, their experience with the dealer, and their experience with the results. This will give new 07 owners a good resource to check out if they have the problem and they dont even have to search. This should definitely add some "sticky" value to the thread.

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ghlight=Clutch Justin@IOS’s experience

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ghlight=Clutch Veetec’s 1st dealer experience

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ghlight=Clutch Veetec’s initial results

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ghlight=Clutch Another follow up

https://my350z.com/forum/vq35hr/315206-my-07-z-is-back-at-the-dealer-for-the-slave-cylinder-problem-complaint-filed.html veetec’s follow up on the issue

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ghlight=Clutch VitViper’s dealer experience

https://my350z.com/forum/vq35hr/314280-my-clutch-dampener-is-gone.html vitvipers dampener delete

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/271556-2007-z-owners-with-without-clutch-issue.html Poll on the issue

By the way, 07 owners we still need more attention on this. Take 5-7 mins of your time to post a complaint if your having the problem. It could pay dividends if you have to go to the dealer and try to get it fixed.

I've never experienced this problem with the clutch sticking to the floor, but it concerns me that a lot of people have. That's mainly why I'm worried, I do heavy traffic commuting on the highway every day. I'd like to feel a little bit more safe I guess. 28,000 miles on my 07 so far, should I be worried about it failing one day? I don't really believe in that "I got lucky"

no you shouldn't. This clutch problem seems to be hit or miss. People that have it experiance it within the first 2k miles of having their vehicle. Luckily, I don't have the clutch issue but good luck to all of you that do.
note, i have 18k miles on mine.

I do feel the clutch getting kind of weak sometimes, but nothing real big. Rolled over on 10k miles today, knock on wood!

I'm as curious as anyone what the real fix to this problem is. You're welcome.
