Question Idle question

Ok.. Today my car was idling around 800-1000 then I realized my A.C was on and it dropped. Altho I never new a.c being on could raise your idle. I never use a.c so w.e.. But I turned it off and it dropped. but the thing is.. When I'm at idle I noticed when I parked in my garage that it bounces between 300 and 500.. Like usually it would sit at 300 and not move. Now when I watch it. I see it slowly go up to 500 down to 300. Sometimes not all the way to 500 but u can see it move like it won't settle.. Sometimes it sits at 500. And I never seen it sit at 500 ever.. It's always at lyk 300.... Is this a normal thing that I don't need to pay any attention to?? Or is my idler or w.e it is already fcked up?? I am about to hit 1100 miles on the car. I have it for alittle over a month and its totally stock.

I'm probly paranoid because of all the problems I had with my last car.. Especially with it's idle. So someone help put my mind to ease.

Most cars I've had kick the idle up when the a.c. is on so that the engine doesn't stop.
300-500 is awfully low for normal idle. I think it's supposed to be closer to 700+. I'm not sure of the exact idle spec from Nissan.
Check with your dealer on the idle speed. They can set it if it's wrong. No biggee.

I thought it was weird that my engine idle was at lyk 300 when I first got the car. Then I thought it was just a thing wit the car becuase my Idle on my last car was 800.... Then I let the rpm drop to lyk 200 n let it no. So I didn't know.. What should the normal idle on an HR motor be??

I just downloaded the 2007 service manuals and they were the same as my 2005. The idle spec is 650 rpm plus or minus 50.

So what's wrong wit mine that I'm idling under 500 rpm?? That's what I don't get. Cuz it's been like that since the day I left the lot.. I mean I have no problems at all driving wise. Everything is fine. My volt meter is normal. My oil pressure is finne.. Is it just the way the ecu is setup on my car or sumthin?? With how tehy did it?? I mean cuz now it won't settle low. And today it seems to be more resting on 500 so maybe its just the ecu. I mean I dunno if the car being brand new has anything to do with it....

Run your AC every time you are going to be at idle - Problem solved!

J/K. You should definitely take it to the dealership and have them look at it. Mine does the same thing when the intake gets water in it (I didn't have the bypass valve on the CAI). It definitely sounds like perhaps an MAS sensor is acting up or idle setting is off.

But its only a month old and bone stock lol. How can my MAS be messin up already.... I wanna say Idle setting is off. But someone else wit a Z said his idles around 500 also.... He has an 07.. I dunno if its an HR thing?? I mean I no its not settling n sitting in idle. It's slight movement usually.. But imma see how it goes for this week cuz I only noticed it today.. So if it dsn't fix itself this week I'll go in on my day off and have them look at it..

Is your car Auto or manual? Is it when you are in neutral, drive, or park? Is it doing this on a flat/level surface, or only while facing either up an incline or down a decline?

Manuel 08. Bone stock. Bout 10 miles under 1100.... I noticed it when i got to work in a flat parking lot. It was at bout 500. And Usually its at literally bout 300 the highest.. And I always thought it was too low. But never had a problem driveability wise or power (electronically) all my guages run normal.. Then I got home and went in my garage where I parked it and saw it dropepd to bout 300. But the idle wasn't steady. Looked like it kinda wasn't sitting. Had alittle movement in the needle.. Went up to bout 500.. Didn't settle again..

If it's trying to tach at 300, it won't run steady because the engine is starving and it's basically gasping for fuel.

So far it hasn't had a problem at 300, but just under that will shut your motor down. I'd def. take it in right away. It's one of those things where everything might be fine, but it's worth checking out. Also, even if it drives fine now, you might end up in a situation later when it dies on you or something else goes wrong if it isn't corrected now.

Now, you said your previous car had iddle issues... do you use the same gas station? and if so, what kind of gas do u use???

bad gas will cause idling problems.... wrong octane (not 91 or 93) would also create idlle issues... I would change gas stations, and run high octane gas b4 taking it to the dealer... if there was a sensor malfuncion, you Service Engine soon light would be on...

+1.
I had that thought this morning about the gas. Make sure you're using premium.
