So...I didn't receive a "recall" letter, but I've experienced the clutch/pedal slippage problem (including the burnt smell) maybe half a dozen times since the car was new.

I called the dealership today, after reading all of the "recall" info on MY350Z and the service dept said they didn't have any of the replacement parts in, yet. The service manager asked for my cell number and said he would call me back with more info ASAP.

After I called the dealership:
I am at work today and didn't have my VIN, so I asked my wife to email it to me. My VIN is ~50 numbers PAST the recall range. I called Nissan USA and they said to take the car into a certified Nissan service dept so that they could troubleshoot the clutch problem.

I have a High Performance Driving Class in a week and a half -- AND I have too much snow on the street outside my house to drive the Z for at least the next day or two.

Ouch. I hope the dealership is willing to work with me on this!

Ihaven't experienced any problems with my clutch yet, but my car's vin is on that list. I am waiting for the part to come in then get it scheduled and replaced. If all goes well, I should be ready to go with the HPDE. Sean, I would do as NNA say, and take it in to Nissan. Probably Boulder or Tynan.

Well I took it in yesterday afternoon to have them look at the shifter guide, and they were too busy so I made an appointment for this morning. Just got back from there with a mechanic telling me there's no room at all for it to move but he did see what I was talking about with the notch being in the way of fifth gear.

I'm taking the wait and see approach for now...my clutch has been perfect so far (knock on wood), i don't see the need right now to risk changing the part and then having issues...with my luck that's probably what would happen.

They told me they'd call me when the mechanic had a chance to look at the documentation and see if he could find anything else that could be causing it. I'm guessing he's just wrong though and it is in fact the shifter guide that's off.

Did you happen to get your stuff done at Reed Nissan? I just called Nissan North America and found out my car is in fact under the recall.

Mine as been perfect as well. But like ColoradoClark, I am attending the same High Performance Driving Course. I would hate for my clutch to all of a sudden drop to floor and lose pressure as I hit a turn at high speed. So in my case, I am doing it as preventative maintenance.

Same exact reason I did mine. I got 700 miles of driving this weekend and it is agreesive driving, so I need that clutch working to it's best. Track time on friday, and then the cruise through the hill country for 3 days.

Yeah, I was warned to have a full tank for the day. So I should be getting some good track time while at PMI. 11 Cars have the track to itself, which is going to be awesome. Of course I still have to drive 283 miles to get there and then drive home afterwards. So I would definitely like my clutch to work it's best.

Default Slave Cylinder and Pilot bushing replaced

Just got mine back from Everett Performance Nissan here in Everett, Washington. Replaced the following:

1 306A2-JK40A CYL ASSY -
1 306A1-JK40C CYL ASSY -
1 34115-CD025 INSULATOR
1 32202-B9500 BUSH 1ST S

The SA and mechanic said the pilot bushing was "damaged and scored". This was possibly due to the original bad factory install. My 350Z has just 9K on it.

I did notice that the clutch feels ever so slightly stiffer when depressing it through the shifting pattern. It was beginning to feel soft, but I was holding off having Nissan look at it. I will continue to keep an eye on its performance and hopefully improvement in clutch-shifting operation..

I contacted local nissan dealership and I did not hear from them 3 days. so I personally went to dealer today and seems like they don't know what da hell is going on with slave cylinder recall. He asked if I want to make appointment, then I asked whether they have all the parts or not he said he doesn't know. This is why I don't want to bring my car to Nissan dealership.
I might have to look for other dealer.

Yeah... They replace my slave cyclender and pilot bushing too.. but Mine have a growling noise coming from the tranny... probablly due to the recall. but luckly they replace the whole tranny with a new one.. and I just got the car back and it is GREAT....

I've had an '07 for a few days. At first, I thought the clutch felt really light, but it feels to have stiffened up a good deal. Though it could be me just getting use to the clutch. So far I think the clutch is fine, but my rev-matches are not always smooth compared to the last Z I had, but that's probably unrelated.

It's disappointing for a new car to already need work and have to be taken apart, so I'm just going to put it off until later.

After doing mine back Oct-Nov, my former dealer told me it was an isolated problem, probably due to my driving.

If only I could see the look on the service manager's face when they got the recall. I told him off for about 10 minutes before leaving, my last time there, explaining to him what customer service was, and how not to treat a customer. Especially a customer who is mechanically inclined.

He was an idiot, and tried to tell me things that were complete fabrications, like they replaced my 04's transmission 3 times, when in fact they replaced it once, after one of their expert technicians made a booboo during the clutch replacement. Right before that they had done my brakes, and accidently found a way to improperly install the front brakes, causing a lock up, at which time the tech burned up the clutch, trying to drive it with the front brakes locking up, which led to the replacement.

After verifying that on the dealer's computer, the service manager just sat there with a dumbfounded look on his face. I then asked for the GM's card and phone number so I could file a written complaint, and his card, so I could forward my experience there with NNA. All this because he asked me to take my car somewhere else, because he said I had a problem fixed that was due to my driving, and not a faulty slave cylinder.

I told him that he didn't have a clue what customer service was, and that a slave cylinder would not go bad in traffic from driver input, unless it was leaking or losing pressure somehow, either due to a part failure, or design flaw, and that he could stop trying to BS me. Then I left, and told him, not worry, I would never be back there again, but not only was I going to file a complaint, but I was going to let every person I know, who had a Nissan, to avoid that dealer, as they were not interested in doing good work and giving good customer service. I also told him I would post my experience with them on a the most popular 350Z web site in the world, and a few other Nissan web sites, to warn others of the treatment I received there.

Sorry for venting, but he was an ***.

The dealer was Sutherlin Mall of Georgia Nissan.
