Hi,
I'd like to install cams on my 2009 Z.
I use it 50% on the Road 50% on the track .
What is the Max lift allowable with stock internals ? I read something like 11 mm ?
Will a Tomei 272/272 with 10.8mm lift fit without risk ? I don't want to crash my pistons with my valves
if i make the installation myself Will i be able to drive the car without the ECU tuning, in order to go to the tuning shop ? (since i already have an ECU tuning : 334 hp so about 275 whp i think)

Thanks a lot

you will need to be careful doing it, assume you have a 370 with the vvel **** in the head? theres a special way to take that out and put it back in. also you will need to retune otherwise you wont be using any potential the cams may offer. and tuning the cam phasing on them will take quite some time

Hi,

No it's a 350Z, but one of the last (January 2009)

I'm aware that i'll have to retune to take the full benefits of the cams.

But with the specs of the tomei 272 /272 10.8mm lift no risks to hit the pistons ?

Thanks

to be certain though i would clay the top of your piston when you pull the head to do the cam and rotate everything then check the depth in the clay

Or turn the engine after the installation to check if something is touching...

I mailed also GTM, to ask them if their 282 11.5mm cam can fit with stock internals. I have some doubts after reading here that the max was 11.00mm ... But they seems to know the hell what they are doing

I am running 264/267 Greddy Easy Camshafts. What I thought was great about the they are safe to run with stock Valvetrain. They are still running strong to date.

It's kool I dont mind. Cam jobs on our cars usually cost between $1500-$1800. That's with out messing with valves and valve springs, valves require machining the head's valve seats. So maybe an extra $800-$1000 for that but I wouldn't do that again. Wish I could go back and just install the Camshafts by themselves.
