Guys, I had a few G35s and had dynoed them in 4th and 5th. 5th Gear on the G is 1:1 and that was the gear you should do it in, but on my 05 G35 it hit the speed limiter in 5th like 500 rpms before it toped that gear.

In the HR engine, can we use 5th gear to go to redline on the dyno?

 

No.

Try it out and prove me wrong.

 

Depends on the dyno.. some 5th gear runs will be cut short, so I had to dyno my car in 4th, but 5th is closer to 1:1, if not 1:1 exactly.

 

I had mine dynoed in 5th and if I remember correctly it hit the speed limiter not the rev limiter.

I do it on 5th all the time though I have shorter gears so I dont hit the speed limiter before I hit redline
